14446.png 		Luka is the only dragon who knows how to soothe the beast. Others have tried imitating the melodies he plays, but it doesn't work; she will be calm only for him. Even without the charm of music, which he endured many weeks of painful trial and error to figure out, he is now allowed to come close to the beast, and even interact with her a bit without being attacked. The wood and feathers that he wears serve a purpose; when the wood clicks together, the beast can identify him by sound, and knows that it is him approaching even if he is not playing his harp. He helps Sombre get close to the beast, as distasteful as he finds her study of her- Sombre has a tendency to treat the beast as an object rather than a patient, but despite the healer's off-putting demeanor, she is the beast's best chance at ever overcoming her condition.

There are many in the clan who question the relationship between Luka and the beast, a few disgusted that Rue appears to be the offspring of the two. Luka will neither confirm nor deny the young dragon's parentage, but is very protective of her, and deeply fears her turning out like her mother. Whether this protectiveness is due to his inherent compassion or something more parental remains to be seen.
