Fierce, loyal, and --okay, just a little destructive --Yol earned the respect of her fellow Godlings almost immediately. She began life as a tundra, but a coatl's fire burned in her heart since the day she hatched, something she made quite clear to the Council of Elders. Under the Elders' instruction, the rest of the clan saved enough currency to pay for Yol's trip to the Ashfall Waste, where the then-tundra made her case to the Flamecaller. Had she hatched with different colors, Yol might have been turned away at first, forced to travel all around Sornieth to accomplish the delicate task of changing her body so extremely; but the goddess saw herself in Yol's fiery colors, and granted the Godling's wish with ease. As Yol tells it, the Flamecaller threw her on a mighty pyre, and when she emerged from the coals, Yol was reborn as her true self. Most of the other Godlings consider this story to be absolute rubbish, but they don't say that to Yol's face. Though she may be honest most of the time --brutally so, some would say --Yol is well-known for her dramatic flair. Her mate, Flambit, has only served to fan the flames of her whimsy. He's easily entertained, and Yol enjoys telling him stories that may be a bit lacking in truth, just so she can see the wonder on his face. Like most of her fellows, Yol avoids contact with non-Godling members of the clan. She considers herself to be above them in most regards, and doesn't care much for the abundance of trees the other Moondolls like to have around. They, in turn, don't much care for her tendency towards burning vegetation. |
