SULLIVAN WALTZ
Head Dancer, Choreographer, and Trapeze Artist  Many residents of the trickster's caravans are vagabonds – they come from places of sadness, violence, and anger. Sully Waltz, the head dancer and principle choreographer of the Jongleur, is one of these. Her past, which she keeps close to the chest, stands as a reminder of the ongoing, heavy-handed Themian crusades against those born of two spirits. The Jongleur dancer is nonetheless a powerful Cabinetrist, a skill allowing her to perform dazzling acrobatics despite her lack of eyesight. She performs well with her fellow troupe leaders: she and the Ringmaster have a particularly good relationship, since Sully is talented at both listening to orders and studiously ignoring them when they seem too... impractical. Her pragmatic presence keeps the otherwise flighty dancing troupe organized. She suffers no fools, but her order isn't kept by the Ringmaster's blusterous temper; her dancers instead fear a slow displeased frown and the sharp rap of a scabbard on stone. She is the quiet, sarcastic queen of the rings: the troupe respect her above all other authority, save perhaps for Farforello. Sully juxtaposes a genteel humor and wry wit in social situations with long stretches of withdrawn melancholy. She spends long walks through the passing forests and equally long stints in her tents, practicing swordmanship. The reserved and gentle Cabinetrist holds a deep, abiding anger for the zealots that blinded and tortured her: any Themian that crosses her path might face this wrath firsthand. (This unfortunately includes Fortinbrie, who avoids the head dancer like a plague.) Sully's troupe has grown accustomed to these periods of sullen, angry reclusion. Sully sometimes returns to her tents to find gifts of strawberries wrapped in paper gently laid under her canvas. They help a bit, with the memories. Sully is one of very few who have seen a Lacefellow firsthand. It was also one of the last things she ever saw; it was the Lacefellows that blinded her. Trickster Cabinetrist. |
