Acara's egg was found abandoned by Kaegro while he, Silverhawk, and Kaz were out on a scavenging expedition on the edge of the Abiding Boneyard. Her egg had been badly damaged by whatever creatures had stolen it from the nest, and the three were worried that the egg wouldn't hatch at all. Acara hatched soon after being brought back to the clan's lair. She bore terrible blackened scars as a result of the damage to her egg, and Daen wasn't sure she would survive.
Kaegro, however, refused to give up on her. Perhaps driven by the recent loss of his favorite daughter to a coma, he stayed up around the clock caring for her and making sure she was still breathing. Thanks to him, Acara was soon on the mend.
However, Acara's newly healthy state soon presented a different problem, as half the clan suddenly came down with a series of minor but strange illnesses. Daen realized that Acara possessed a huge amount of magical power, which was bubbling over and growing out of control. The resulting illnesses kept Daen busy treating coughs, sore throats, and fevers. Some clanmates were annoyed with Acara, but Kaegro once again refused to give up on her. Slowly but surely, he began to teach her how to control her abilities so that fewer outbreaks occured. Though her power still got the better of her on occasion, particularly during times of emotional stress, the frequency of her outbreaks lessened to a manageable degree.
In an attempt to help Acara managed her emotions (as guilt over the problems she caused often made things worse), Daen suggested she try to help him cure the sicknesses she caused. Liking the idea, Acara began her training as Daen's assistant healer, and found that she exceled at the job. This has gone a long way towards alleviating her emotional stress and has resulted in only occasional outbreaks, much to the relief of the rest of the clan.
Acara is a shy and timid dragon, and easily suffers from a lack of confidence. She speaks quietly and sometimes stutters when she is upset. When she's not busy being anxious, Acara is sweet and caring, and especially enjoys interacting with the hatchlings (though she knows to stay away from them if her power levels start to spike). Acara is sometimes assisted by Condor, who helps make healing potions for her and Daen to use, and she has developed a bit of a crush on the clumsy but kind mirror. She's not sure that he likes her back, though, and she doesn't want to ruin their friendship, so she hasn't said anything yet.
