the Matriarch

The founder of her clan, Wysteria is more like a mother than a governing figure. Her benevolent nature and drive to help others is the sole founder of her patchwork community. Keen on offering her refuge to wandering or runaway dragons (misfits who are seeking solace in others), she takes in anyone, regardless of their background. So long as they comply with her fundamental rules, Wysteria treats every dragon as though they were her own flesh and blood. Although the matriarch of her clan, she leaves most of the day-to-day running down to her most trusty advisers, rather than tackling it herself.

Although first perceived as a shy and mysterious figure (perhaps even brooding, due to her shadowy origins), this midnight skydancer is one to contradict appearances. Talkative tendencies, chirpy comments and waff mannerisms are all part of Wysteria’s lovable nature, and you’ll find she is quite capable of striking up a friendship with the most reclusive dragon. Her dark exterior and mysterious luminescent sheen is partly the result of many hours spent in the dark underground. Lurking in the dark recesses and narrow alcoves of her caves is the dwindling population of bioluminescent mushrooms, to which she tends on a regular basis. Cataloging the remaining variations, studying their growth and the conditions to which they react are all part of her biological hobby, which she goes about with an undisguised passion. It was poking around in the shadows that led her to stumble across her most prized companion – the tight-lipped dwarf truffle. » Wysteria's eyes possess a tapetum lucidum. When light is reflected from her eyes, they will appear to glow a vibrant purple. This allows her to see clearly in dimly lit spaces.

» She likes to decorate her feathers with nocturnal dust, making them glow the dark. This gives her the appearance of bioluminescence, similar to the mushrooms growing throughout the Tangled Wood.
