The Cache-Robber

I will survive.

Tag is off exploring the blacksand shore with Vaoun, hunting shorebirds, harassing shore-scavengers of other sorts, and perfecting his swimming skills in the surf. He is unaware of any goings-on in clanhome that should trouble him, and intents to return with many crabs, trinkets, beach plants, and shells for the clan, if not pirate treasure.

*

Shortly before Greenskeeper Gathering, Tag returned to find the clan in crisis. He hasn't had much to offer—and his familiar notably lacks healing powers—but has quietly stepped up to take shifts in the border guard. He has continued to do so during the festival, though he is curious about the aether.

Tag is a secretive, wary loner with an uncanny ability to find hidden things, be they the caches of serthis or dragons, or aestivating lungfish. Exactly how he finds his treasures is something of a mystery, as his sense of smell is not up to the standard of the clan's tundras and mirrors, and it seems to apply equally well to finding mechanical faults and underground passageways as food or water.

A firm believer in self-sufficiency, Tag spends most of his time away from the main clan and outside of Cindercone's territory proper. He returns often enough to keep his ties to the clan fresh, bringing with him discovered treasures that he cannot eat or otherwise use himself.

While he usually avoids newcomers and visitors, Tag is friendly with the majority of the clan. He is closest with Vaoun, but is generally appreciative of dragons like Kellinlii and Dessel who also see a need for preparedness.

Craft
At Elkrekeodh's insistence, Tag has taken up a craft. He favors wood-carving, both into practical bits and jigs for tools, and for art. He has begun leaving carved warning-signs around his hunting grounds and Clan-home, marking hazards with cryptic warning glyphs. He utilizes Plague magic to imbue the wood with various colorful blooms, encouraging the growth of colorful lichens and molds.

Physical description
Tag is slim and rangy, with a short bristling crest and particularly short, sharp claws. He generally moves in sharp, bird-like jerks on the ground, and soars in marked dihedral. He has a distinctly sour, peaty smell that most dragons find unpleasant. A skillful swimmer and wader, he is fully at ease in the variable depths of the mires of the Plague borderlands.

Combat
A competent if not unduly skilled fighter, Tag is remarkable mostly for his slinking caution, an unusual trait for a wildclaw. He prefers to strike hard and fast before slipping away, and rarely fights without good cover. He does not have a regular team.

Origin
Tag roved out from Plague as a youngling on a journey that eventually led him to the fens of northern Shadow territory. There, hidden among the roots of a marsh tree, he found a small cache of food and bone jewelry, which he appropriated. While unable to read the scent-map that was included with the cache, he had the distinct sense that this was not the only such stash, and began steadily working his way south toward the canyon.

Near the overlook where the exiles temporarily gathered, he found the site of another cache, and encountered Spearmint while digging for it. He joined with the Exiles in return for food, and has remained with them since.

Kin
Tag is of mixed coatl and wildclaw descent. Most of his family is relatively "lowborn", lines dominated by mixed plentifuls, but several families of imperials, and one of wild coatls, have joined them. Having wandered away as a nestling, Tag has little knowledge of his family, and appears quite uninterested in learning anything more of them.

Guardian
The cerdae has watched over Tag since he was in the shell, though her motivations are mysterious. She follows him at some distance, and generally lets him fight his own battles—but foes that would overwhelm him are met with a swift and vicious tide of tainted marshwater. Vaoun seems to be intelligent, though no one can quite gauge to what degree as she cannot or will not speak.
