Lucid's Nightmare

Nephrit is a sly little thing, one-sidedly mischievous, a twinkle in the eye of the gambler. It wouldn't be fair to dismiss the creature as a petty little dream sprite, though. Strong Cabinetrists attract the strongest of nightmares, and Lucid is second only to the Ringmaster in the series of victims.

Despite being the result of a leaky Cabinet infestation, Nephrit is a powerful and individual sort of creature. She still does the bidding of Gegiartes, because in the land of spirits, power is the great decider; but all nightmares despise being ruled. She's certainly grown fond of the hapless Cabinetrist she keeps as companion... and habitually stealing tent tapestries and ministral socks might just be better entertainment than the more sinister things waiting in the wings. Still – Nephrit is nothing if not opportunistic. As long as it provides a spectacle, she will watch with lazy eyes and long grins.

Her powers are primarily narcotic in nature. Nephrit's dreams better resemble high-octane, colorful hallucinations than the thick nightmares Gegiartes lovingly crafts; of course, this makes her uniquely suited for Lucid's cheerfully addled sensibilities. Her presence can be sniffed out, if necessary, by the colorful pungent fumes she produces. This might make subterfuge difficult; luckily, Lucid's penchant for pipe-smoking provides the perfect disguise.
