Vassago left his home in the Undermoor Kingdom charged with rallying an army and some day returning to aid his mother, the Queen. Born under the auspices of a new moon, he was blessed with a supernatural talent for discovery. He excels at finding hidden things, literal and figurative. He has a particular affinity for uncovering things with strong ties to the past, be it ancient relics or old, buried pains of the heart.

When Vassago gets it into his head to look for something, he becomes consumed with the hunt for it. Until he finds his quarry, he single-mindedly pursues it, sleeping and eating little and becoming restless when prevented from actively searching. It eats at him, more compulsion than mere curiosity- he must find what is lost, he must uncover what is hidden. Finding these things offers little joy, other than the bliss of guaranteed rest- there's always the disappointed feeling that he was looking for the wrong thing to begin with. When not consumed by another Search, he is dutifully serving the destiny charged him.

As it turns out, Princes do not fight wars, peasants do. And if he is going to recruit peasants, then he is going to have to meet them at their level. Discarding all his finer things (Sparing the signet ring he was given as a memento), he's decided to dress himself like a Real Common Dragon, All By Himself. As a result he now looks a less like the son of Royalty and more like a wandering hobo. A wandering hobo with fliers beseeching the common dragon to turn their hearts in favor of those imprisoned in the Undermoor. He fully believes in the righteousness of his cause.

He has for the time taken refuge with the Underclan. On days when he is tired and worn he finds himself missing the Undermoor, sometimes even growing anxious under the open skies. Then he retreats to the Root System, exchanging his meager skills for shelter. He locates missing children, displaced notes and baubles, occasionally he assists in locating the burial grounds of Imperials. Sometimes, he simply helps people talk through their problems. The sprawling tunnels remind him of home, and he finds their closeness comforting.

For a Prince, he is far from Kingly material. But he is warm and friendly, with an overly-optimistic sense of justice and morality that is not easily shaken. He is quick to make friends and allies- though few of them take his talk of armies and liberation seriously. He writes to his nest-brother often, about his successes, his failures, his close shaves and his fortunate encounters. He never hears back, but he doesn't stop writing.
