The "Ning" after the word Light in his flight is the deepest source of distress and self conciousness for Owain. He never removes his veil, and has an entire concocted story of his former life in the realm of Light. Only Aember, Ptennia, and Venus know his secret, and the reason he isn't a light mage for the clan, and is rather a miner. He claims to the other clan members that due to his sins against the Lightweaver he no longer deserves her light, which is why he has come here, to the flats where sunny days are few and far between, and when they do happen he crawls into the depths to stay out of her reach. The truth is, he is a deeply traumatized dragon. He was found near dead on the border between lightning and light by Tang on one of his trade adventures. Tang nursed the dragon back to conciousness, and Owain immediately painicked and begged Tang to hide him. Tang quickly sent word to the Flats, and Aember quickly approved a recovery mission. She sent Reaper and Ecto to help the incoherent and badly injured dragon back to the Flats for medical care.
Aember still has yet to get him to talk about what put him in that ditch, but it is very clear that though his injuries left physical scars, that whatever happened left much deeper scars inside.
