Biography
My cyborg myth is about transgressed boundaries, potent fusions, and dangerous possibilities.
- Donna Haraway
This girl is the first child of one of forefront couples, Haraway & Ethnography, of the Digital Neolithic endeavor. She inherited her mother's incredible, but rather radical and transgressive, intelligence. An intelligence that she uses to analyze situations in unique ways and find creative solutions to problems. It can sometimes be frustrating for her when the more traditional members of her clan balk at her ideas as, while usually correct, they can disrupt the status quo in ways that does not make everyone comfortable. From her father, she took her ability to intuitively understand and empathize with other dragons. This tempers her sharp intelligence, making her a patient teacher, always willing to go over her ideas one more time to get them across. It also encourages her creativity though as she loves learning about new ways of seeing, understanding, and living in the world that might be different from what she is used to.
This makes her a formidable team player in any ventures. Unlike many scholars and scientists and despite a certain shyness, she prefers to work in groups and with people -- traveling to new places, collaborating with new dragons, and always trying to imagine radical possibilities for better worlds. She is quickly able to get to know her team members and anticipate their actions, tailoring her work to ways that supports them. She has a sly sense of humor, but can be pretty reserved until she is familiar with the dragons around her, preferring to learn about them before she reveals too much about herself.
When she first moved to the Clan of the Woven wave, she was fascinated by the unusual peralcatcher. Her intent study of the lair dynamics lead more than one dragon to think she was a spy, but eventually, after a mischevious and suspicious hatchling snuck into her lair and stole some of her research papers it became clear she was just an anthropologist.
As she continued her studies, she began to specialize increasingly in the beastclans and their cultures...or at least what their cultures have become. In her endeavors, she began talking with members of various different beastclans, despite language and cultural boundaries. Her research partner and mate, Zaanqalos, helped greatly in teaching her more about the language and culture of many of the beastclans as she was raised by a small community of centaurs.
After the disaster, Rulim and her daughter, Guiscard became more and more at odds, and Guiscard turned from the peaceful study of anthropology and instead devoted her study to combat and war against the beastclans. Now the two of them, when they do talk, do so tensely, with overly formal manners, or yelling instead of talking.
Inspired by the anthropological fields of Archaeology & Anthropology of Technoscience. The essence of the span of the most archaic to the most modern technologies — from nature to stones to complex electronics -- and how they are all interwoven in complex, mysterious ways.
