Biography

In the days following the destruction of his pet project, the Rune Clock, Sarnath made some regrettable decisions. Siring a clutch of eggs with the hotheaded itinerant Lo'ihi was one of them.

By the time Sarnath learned of Lo'ihi's children and tracked down her nest, perched on a cliff where the lava of the Ashfall Wastes vaporizes in the waters of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, Lo'ihi was long-gone; having taken two of the hatchlings to be exalted to the Stormcatcher. The youngest, a shining teal dragon, had been abandoned, as his wings were still too weak to carry him.

Wracked with guilt, Sarnath took him to the Windhovers. He named the hatchling Kuranes, after a great king from the Second Age. Ilena, Sarnath's original mate, forgave Sarnath and welcomed the little Kuranes... but not all of the clan did, knowing the high value that the Gods place upon children of a clan's progenitors.

As he grew, Kuranes was appointed the prestigious job of Hoard-Keeper. He now spends his time doling out food and materials, and stashing away the clan's communal gems and treasure for safekeeping.

Kuranes is generally an affable dragon... but has known from his youth how transient promises, and love, can be. He is grateful for Sarnath's material kindness, but also keenly aware of how the clan looks down upon him. Accordingly, he is generous with his time and a loyal friend to those who have proven their allegiance to him, but is also easily coaxed and bribed with material goods.

Kuranes also considers himself an amateur alchemist--if he's not guarding the hoard, he can usually be found at the trading post, waiting in line to drop something into Baldwin's cauldron.
