Madame Starshace is the resident matron of the Jongleurs, and has an undisputed run of the roost. She takes a great deal of pride in her post – too much pride to admit she's far more talented at showy chanting than actual divining. No-one would dare tell her so, not to the dear old caravan mother hen with the vice-like grip... Besides, Starshace is the only one who remembers everyone's birthdays.

Nowadays, Starshace's daughter Circe does most of the divining, while Starshace herself takes up a more executive role. She is often given diplomatic responsibilities, since she's a shrewd soul – and talented at looking impressive. Starshace remains just as magnificent as she grows older, after all; and it's never any trouble to invite a handsome old fellow or two into her tent for a bit of... intimate fortune telling. How else does one stay active in their old age?

The chance to perform at the Palace Owlsborough has left her all aflutter. She’s anxious to play with the big boys: the royal families of Owlsborough hold plenty of political power in the west Red Lands, and Starshace thinks herself a chessplayer. Considering she’s organizing the bulk of the arrangements herself, she might not be wrong.
