Kelsier comes from the same clutch as Ysolt, Sedai, and Reckon, although he is much less aggressive than his mirror sister. He is autistic and his special interest is mechanics; the countless hours he spends reading about and building machines have made him quite skilled at the craft. As a result, he's become the clan's resident mechanic, fixing contraptions and building new ones. Some of his fellow clan members say that he's a lightning dragon at heart because of his affinity for mechanics. Some others don't get along with Kelsier well because he often has difficulty with social situations, but those that take the time to get to know him know how friendly and easily excited he is. He is often overflowing with energy, talking a mile a minute about his newest project. He's very curious in general as well, and he has been known to spend decent chunks of time in the clan library.

Life in a clan as big as Stahli's can often get overwhelming for Kelsier, however. If he is overstimulated he retreats back into his den. He keeps it dark and quiet for this very reason. He invents stim toys for himself and keeps at least a few with him at all times.
