HISTORY/LORE

Maela is one of the first dragons to join the Sageglow Clan (arrived after Troy joined). Maela has a desire to live life to the fullest and she wants to help others do the same. She’s often mistaken for being a troublemaker just to be a troublemaker, and while she will agree that some of her pranks get her into trouble, especially with Gomrin, she doesn’t do it just to cause trouble. Maela pulls pranks on others not only to make herself laugh, but also in hopes that others will laugh as well. When someone she’s pranked starts laughing, she feels accomplished. Maela enjoys trying new things, whether it’s something she’s naturally capable of doing or something she probably shouldn’t do. It’s just part of her way of living life to the fullest.

Other dragons tend to wonder why Maela is the way she is. She doesn’t tell many about it, but Maela’s home region, Dragonhome, didn’t exactly feel like home for a dragon like herself. She finds it to be dull and boring compared to the colorful and refreshing Viridian Labyrinth. The only thing she misses about Dragonhome is her opportunity of finding shiny stones and gems from time to time on a daily basis. However, because she’s part of the Digging Group, she’s able to gather those things, plus other artifacts from Dragonhome if she so chooses to.

Maela first mated with Kelvar in the early times of the clan’s development and it was…something… Even to this day, she’s surprised he didn’t eat her, she was close enough to him for him to have that opportunity. The intention was for the clan to have enough treasure to expand and even though she didn’t favor the idea of mating with Kelvar, she did so anyway. She kept her eldest, Razor, while his younger siblings, Nida and Malorn, were sold for treasure. The month after having her first nest, Maela mated with a Skydancer named Serril and, to her surprise, the youngest offspring, named Chaplin, turned out to be a Skydancer. She liked him a lot and decided to keep him while her other offspring, Caph, was sold for treasure. Out of the two she’s kept, Maela’s chosen Chaplin as her favorite. Consequently, Maela doesn’t see or speak to Razor as often.

For a few years, ever since the day Marble joined the Sageglow Clan, Maela had been buddies with him. She was happy to see another Crystal Fae that she immediately wanted to befriend him. It took a while, and he often hung out (even now he still does) with Yorikiro and Ash, she managed to become one of Marble’s best friends. However, it seems that, after a few years of having a beautiful friendship, Maela started to develop feelings for the sweet and timid male, and fortunately for her, the feelings are mutual. However, Maela learned that Marble wants to take things slowly because he wants a meaningful romantic relationship, and she respected his wishes and agreed to it. Maela enjoys pranking Marble, especially because he forgives her every time and always laughs when he realizes she pranked him. She especially likes to take one of his plushies and hides them somewhere when Marble isn’t present.

Maela got a Dodo when she saw that one of her clanmates was taking him to the lair to be served for a meal. She loved how dopey he looked that she couldn’t help but save him. Because of her habit of giving things goofy names, Maela named him Dodosaurus.

Maela likes to spoil Dodosaurus by sharing her meals with him, tickling under his beak gently, and letting him wander around as he pleases (with careful supervision, of course. She doesn’t want him to get eaten by other creatures…or any meat-loving clanmates.)
