HISTORY/LORE

From the very beginning, Gomrin was a survivor in the Viridian Labyrinth. He came into the world not knowing who his parents were, who took care of his egg, or if he was going to live for another day. He managed to get by with the help of strangers who were kind enough to take him in temporarily as well as whatever creatures would let him in their territory. One night while Gomrin was sleeping in a tree as it was raining, he had a dream of a large dragon, one he had never seen before. In his dream, she was awe-inspiring as she stood before him, blinding light shining behind her, and the leaves on her body slowly and gently rustling despite there being a lack of a breeze. With a soft voice, he asked, “Who… Who are you?” The large and magnificent creature didn’t answer his question, but in a gentle voice, she said, “Gomrin, you are destined to do great things. Someday, you will see all there is to see in Sornieth, you will meet many dragons along the way, and you will face many dangers. But you have the potential, as a survivor. Gomrin, follow your heart, for it knows the path of your life.” Soon after, the dream ended with the light behind the dragon becoming so intense that Gomrin couldn’t see her anymore. He woke up the next morning, hearing birds chirping, leaves rustling, and insects buzzing and chipping (in the case of crickets) as well. Gomrin thought for a long time about the dream, who the figure was, why she called him Gomrin, and whether to believe that message or not. Regardless, he decided to do as the dragon told him, and even went by the name that she seemed to randomly give him. He wasn’t sure if the dragon was real and whether or not she had the ability to come into other dragons’ dreams and communicate with them or if it was just something he randomly came up with in his subconscious, but all he was sure about was that she inspired him.

A while after, as he was taken in to another dragon’s home for a couple days, Gomrin noticed a portrait of the figure who was in that odd dream of his. He soon learned that the figure in his dream was Gladekeeper, and learned a bit about her story. Amazed at how she managed to contribute to how Sornieth came to be during her fight with her sister, Plaguebringer, Gomrin began to worship the deity of Nature, but loathed the deity that brought plague in the world (and by extension, Plague dragons in general).

Adulthood was getting closer and closer for Gomrin before he decided to set off on his journey. However, before he did so, he met a beautiful Fae who was singing while various creatures gathered around her and listened. He took the time to listen as well until she finished before she turned and locked eyes with him. Gomrin began to realize that he was feeling something he had never felt before, and it only got stronger as he got to know her. Little did he know, at the time, that one day, that Fae would mean something special to him. Before he had to leave, the female told Gomrin that she’d wait for him, because she wanted him to be part of her clan she dreamed of having. While Gomrin was flattered, he was also hesitant about it. He wasn’t sure how long he’d be gone, if she’d eventually forget about him and find someone else, or if he’d die somewhere in the world before he could finish his quest, but Gomrin said nothing that would sound discouraging.

For a decade, Gomrin traveled around all of Sornieth, meeting different dragons, befriending some while having enemies as well. He encountered many things, quests to save other dragons, he discovered things that hadn’t been seen for a very long time, fought great evils, and even tasks that weren’t as epic but he did them anyway out of kindness. The journey had to come to an end at some point, and after all those years of traveling, Gomrin decided it was time to settle down and go back to where it all began in his life. Gomrin eventually made it back to the Viridian Labyrinth and came across the Fae he met before his journey began. Silly enough, at that point Gomrin had learned that her name is Gracie, but how long it took for him to learn her name didn’t matter to him because he was finally home and ready for a fresh new start. Slowly but surely, the Sagelgow Clan grew, starting at the Everbloom Gardens, eventually expanding to the Ancient Lair of the Behemoth. Despite the fact the clan was founded by Gracie, Gomrin was given the title of the clan’s leader due to his natural leadership skills and experiences with the world that gave him the knowledge and wisdom for many situations.

Gomrin does his best to not disappoint others, especially because of his history of exploring and making himself known to the world. He is especially idolized by the younger generation as they hear of the stories of his journey, which he tells with pride. His son, Yorikiro, especially idolizes him and has a desire to be like Gomrin. However, the residents of the Sageglow Clan tend to worry about Gomrin’s mental health; he has his angry outbursts (random or not) at times, he gets irritable easily, avoids certain things that remind him of certain aspects of his past, flashbacks, difficulty feeling positive at times, and so on. Libby, a Skydancer and resident therapist in the clan, concludes that Gomrin’s displaying signs of PTSD from his journey, especially because of certain events that were exceptionally traumatizing. However, Gomrin denies their worries so as to not feel like he’s weak to everyone whether they’re in the clan or not. It is difficult to hid the fact that he has his own weaknesses from his past, especially because some members have read his journal, which contains content that’s written in vivid detail though there are pages that are written about things that a dragon shouldn’t ever have to experience in their lives.

Despite the traumatic experiences he went through, Gomrin has members in the clan who support him, especially his beautiful but flawed family. How does he view his family as flawed? Gracie is easily attractive to other males who think she’s single, Mokele is “special”, Graceful wants to be friends with everybody (he views it as a flaw due to trust issues), Yorikiro is sometimes socially rebellious, Elena is too kind and a bit of a push over, Timon confuses Gomrin a lot, Orwell is too optimistic, Martyn has a bit of an ego, Olfrid is just…Olfrid, and Scorpio is his and Gracie’s adopted son who does whatever it takes to have Gracie close to him…because he’s one of those adopted sons who has an interest in his adoptive mother. Despite all that, Gomrin loves his family unconditionally and takes pride in having them in his life.

As the leader of the Sageglow Clan, Gomrin does his best to maintain the laws and traditions he came up with to ensure that there is fairness for everybody…though some of the laws can be a bit strict; he gets miffed when someone rebels. He can be intimidating at times, but he’s respected by many regardless.

Due to his fame and popularity, Gracie worries about telling other dragons she meets about her relationship with him out of fear that any of those dragons could possibly be one of Gomrin’s enemies from his journey. While he does acknowledge Gracie’s concerns, Gomrin is determined that if it does happen, or any other sort of unfortunate circumstance happens, that he will protect them to the best of his ability.

One year after forming the Sageglow Clan with Gracie, Gomrin stumbled upon a Sapling Speaker on Greenskeeper Gathering. Gomrin immediately felt a connection with her and even began to believe that Gladekeeper was gifting him this beautiful creature for him to call his own. He decided to name her Florus, mostly to make it sound more fancy than just calling her something like “Flora.”

Wherever Gomrin goes, Florus follows. When Gomrin needs a specific task done that he knows Florus can do, she’ll do it. When Gomrin starts having one of his episodes or has a nightmare that reminds him of his adventures, Florus is always there to help him feel safe. She’s basically his emotional support Familiar. However, she seems to display some issues as well, such as paranoia towards certain creatures, but in turn, Gomrin is there to help her feel safe as well.
