( REWRITE LORE!! include; his childhood in the druid clan, how he sucks *** at magic but still appreciates nature, how instantly in love he was with dags for some dumb reason, how family is the most important thing in the world to him, why he left, yadda yadda )
when melek left, nobody paid much mind to it save for the new family he abandoned. only his mate pined for him; only his son loathed him for all the damage he had done. but that's all that remained of him. distraught feelings that soon gave way to distant memories.
now...he's back.
without a word to his defense, melek showed up at the edge of clan horesh's territory. he tracked the clan's journey all the way from the viridian labyrinth, through the windswept plateau, and finally to the sunbeam ruins. far away from home yet farther still from the two loved ones he deserted years ago, he has returned by the gladekeeper's graces to his true home.
dagny quietly allowed him back into the fold of clan life. he never had to tell her why he left; the fear that corroded his heart, the worry that seeped into his bones, the nagging voice that told him to flee before the going got tough. she sensed his troubles before he left and saw them gone from his eyes when he returned. whatever great injustice he committed by leaving her and their family, he may repent for it yet by serving his mate's new, ever-growing flock. and he has been truly humbled by the strength and warmth of his mate. he never imagined being able to lead so large a clan and is quite proud of dagny for being able to do so even in his absence. regaining her love has emboldened him and soothed his anxious heart for good.
he has assumed a position as acting head of the clan. everyone knows that his counterpart has final say, but he now runs the show. overseeing training, maintaining diplomatic relations, interviewing new additions...these and many more tasks, from the everyday to the urgent, have fallen to melek. he has quickly endeared himself to the clan with his diligence, his friendliness, his tact, and his loyalty (of all things).
he has an infallible wit that often falls on deaf ears in clan company. he can't even trigger his mate's laughter on a good day. he also shares his mate's tendency of being a bit too trusting. he would never turn anyone away if he could help it. he knows what it's like to be alone and afraid in this wide world and won't ever cause anyone to feel that way.
while his son is still wary of his larger-than-ever presence after having none for so long, even moshe can admit that melek has shaped up into a stand-up dragon. hopefully he will stay around for the long haul this time, helping dagny bring some order and respect to her ragtag band of dragons.
