"Your clan is your family, whether through blood or not"
Born the son of a Tempest Spire assassin, Durion's life was in danger nigh-constantly. The competitiveness of the famous technicians that reside there was only amplified by the high-risk, high-reward nature of his father's job, and any chance to emotionally or physically cripple a rival was viewed as a gold mine. During an attack on the Tempest Spire by a furious guild of the Flamecaller's children, the family attempted to make their escape, resulting in the accidental murder of his father, Duressi. Durion, his mother, Hana, and his younger sister, Kial, fled to the Tangled Wood. Hana and Kial settled down there, but Durion was restless. He had only ever lived in the Tempest Spire, rarely getting to experience the outside world. Taking on odd jobs here and there, he eventually ended up being contracted to deliver certain components through a Tsunami Flats black market in secret. Originally intending to remain in the Anaey Clan for only a day, he ended up helping to handle more deliveries through the clan and never left. Growing to act as an advisor to the clan leader, Taeria, the two of them fell in love and got married after several years of relying on each other to run smuggling trips and the eventual realization that Taeria was the dragon Durion trusted most in all the universe. Originally hesitant over the matter of officially adopting Nahnie, Durion spent a number of months bonding with his adopted daughter before the three of them underwent the ceremony to declare them family. The twins Aeri and Auriel hatched not long after, just in time to make the journey from Tsunami Flats to their temporary outpost in Fishspine Reef. Raising hatchlings is not a task easily undertaken on the current, and the task frequently fell to Durion in between checking maps and making course corrections. He took the (occasionally frustrating) time to bond with his children in the way his mother had in the absence of his father, working with Taeria to ensure that Aeri and Auriel spent roughly equal time with both parents, instead of setting it up for a lopsided family relationship later in life like he had had. After yet another move, although thankfully one without small hatchlings of their own to tend, Taeria and Durion decided to have another clutch, hatching Duressi (named for Durion's late father), Kloia, and Ateyu once they were settled into Leviathan Trench. |
