Galene likes to tell everyone that she was created from seafoam, but actually no one know where or how she was hatched, except for in the Sea of a Thousand Currents. She has an uncanny ability to predict currents, weather, and changes of both, which is likely connected to her talent in divination. Galene, though close to her only mate, and often in his company, insists on maintaining her own room, in part so her collection of orbs can be displayed (and used), and in part so she has a quiet space in which to study, meditate, prophesies, or work on matters related to leading the clan. On a typical day, she will spend some large portion of it secluded in her room, deep in her papers, books, and orbs, some of the day talking to nearly every dragon in the lair, at least briefly, some time exploring, and finish the day in her lair, mostly meditating or reading, with maybe some scrying. It is at this time of the day that most dragons come to see her, so she happily tolerates interruptions. Though a typical day is spent in and around the lair, sometimes Galene will disappear for weeks at a time, scouting, exploring, and visiting other lairs. During these periods Nereus leads the lair on his own, though as the lair has grown these periods have become less frequent, and recent worrying events and prophecies have led to even fewer excursions. Adventurous and clever, Galene has explored much of the Sea of a Thousand Currents. but never reveals exactly how much she knows. She can often be slightly playful but is always serious when she ought to be. She sometimes uses a slight theatrical flair, as can be seen in her playful insistence on her birth from seafoam and her cultivation of a slight aura of mystery. Kind and welcoming to everyone, Galene is unofficially in charge of settling disputes and helping new dragons settle into the clan and lair--though that may because she was one of the first dragons here. She is also one of the clan leaders. Galene can be pensive and solitary quite often, but is very warm despite her frequent disappearances into the sea, her meditative periods, her frequent reading, and arcane studies of different kinds. Speaking of her frequent reading and arcane study, it is possible that she is the source of many of the books in the library. She certainly helps keep up the spells that keep the lair dry, which is essential for the books. Also, it does seem like the library and the communal orb collection keep growing. It is possible that if this is so, Galene may be behind it. Recently, Galene has been overwhelmed with portents of doom and her work with others in the community, from "The Timekeeper" to Nereus, to Lneaua. Furthermore, she is troubled by the reports of rising conflicts with the beastclans. The dragons are hers, hers to protect, but at what cost she now wonders. What aren't her orbs showing her. The future, which used to be so clear is growing murkier by the day, and thunderclouds seem to arise everywhere. |
