Biography

He was born in a dark, cold lair beneath Driftwood Drag. Deep in Shadow Flight territory where claws of those who wanted them could not reach. Curled up beside his two brothers, at his mother side, he breathed in cold, yet refreshing air. In a dim light of glowbugs, his scales shimmered and flickered like tiny stars. They were all identical, little clones of their parents, with scales imitating midnight skies so well they could vanish under the night's gown.
His father with eyes wise and wild like arcane fire, watched upon them while his mothers blind stare hidden under the cape, followed, still clumsy movements of their children.
Time passed as they grew bigger and bigger, strong enough to walk around and spend days on bickering with each other. Nyxondria and Netherion knew that the day when they go their own separate way will come. No dragon stays with their parents forever. the world was calling them, the same world that banish them years ago, now was calling out to their young. It was inevitable. So they taught them all they knew and all they could, but not even they - the spies of two great flights, who delivered more information than any other dragon in their whole life - knew, that the time for one of their children came so soon.
This clever yet foolishly curious little troublemaker had a whole new world in front of his nose.
And he was about to grab it with all his strength.

When he departed from his birth lair on the Search he took little with him, and by the time he arrived at the door of the clan of the woven wave little was left of that little. But it was years before he reached the clan.

Melanthios happened to wander through the forum of the Obscured Crescent. Our of curiosity, he snuck close to the pond, with agility and stealth that belied bulk and wingspan, not to mention his breed. He watched as spies came and went and learned much. Then he continued on his way. During a brief stop in a lair on the edge of shadow territory, Melanthios was recruited by the leaders to track down a fugitive who the leader described only as a "creepy, blind fae who, I think, abducted my son. The clan paid half in advance and he set off. After several months, the trail ended there, at the entrance to the lair of the Clan of the Woven Wave. He still hadn't found his Charge, but this didn't seem to prevent him from looking, and maybe he'd even find his charge in this new lair, he thought.

Melanthios had his suspicions and kept an eye on all the dragons in the lair. After about a year of residence in a den just outside the lair, he had two suspects: Leto and The Peacekeeper.

All became clear after the Disaster, when Phoenix was finally able to tell her story and how her sister was possessed, and the other abducted hatchlings, both dead and alive whom she had seen. Melanthios hurried back to the other clan and told them the story. Grudgingly, as he had not returned the suspect, they paid him half of the remaining payment. He set out to continue on his search, but found himself outside of the first temporary lair the next week. He set out again, and again, after wandering, ran into the second temporary lair. Deciding that this was a sign of some kind, he settled down, and realized almost immediately that he felt responsible for ensuring the death of The Peacekeeper.

As soon as they returned to the old lair (when it became clear that the clock and the peacekeeper both followed them) he found himself oddly drawn to the Timekeeper's lair. When he entered, a breeze stirred some papers, flipping a few to one side, and he thought he heard a whisper, but he paid it no mind. After nearly a week of increasingly less subtle events, he was startled to hear a hoarse, low voice, one he'd never heard before, and spun around, nearly knocking over the desk. There he saw Chronos. Taken aback, he stammered, an unintelligible version of "but you're dead" Chronos sighed and rumbled a simple "yes" as a reply. He followed with an explanation that somehow, he was bound here, since his charge was not completely fulfilled.

After the course of the next few weeks, Chronos' ghost and Melanthios had many discussions, and Melanthios now maintains the clock and helps monitor The Peacekeeper's lair, having finally found his charge--the continuation of the struggle of a dead guardian.
