Hours after arriving to the lair Cordelia started experiencing problems with her health. Luckily her older sister, Aurore (the healer of the lair), noticed this and was able to counteract this disease. Unfortunately, as Cordelia grew up she had to undergo a multitude of operations. These operations left an amazing amount of scars upon her body.
Along with the mechanic of the lair, Aurore has devised a plan to make sure that her two sisters stay alive. With many operations, this plan was executed with success. One of the operations that Cordelia went through was to link her heart to her sister's in some way. The lamp upon her chest is linked to her heart and flickers in time with the beat of her sister's heart. If for some reason her sister dies, she will also.
Cordelia does not know it but there is a second function the the lamps, it has enabled her sister to give part of herself to Cordelia. A side effect that no one has been able to fix yet.
