Forged by Fire, Molded by Plague

Among the searing vents and boiling lava of the Emberglow Hearth once lived a small fire clan. Pyre, Lana, and their immediate family were all whom made up this clan, toiling away daily to create works of metal most unimpressive. Illness plagued these dragons in the form of depression, making physical labor difficult and motivation scarce, but they could find no other purpose in their lives. Their misery only became more and more apparent the longer they stayed within the Ashfall Waste. With the birth of their second clutch of hatchlings-- and the hopelessness that was now plaguing their entire clan-- Pyre and Lana finally decided it was time for a major change.

Over the sea and beyond the Windswept Plateau was the Scarred Wasteland, where all dragons were sick. Most interestingly though, these dragons survived and thrived despite the disease that hung over the entire area. The key to Pyre and Lana's clan's survival rested here: the home of plague dragons, which they would soon be calling home.

This major change did not come without major backlash though, as their children began to revolt. It didn't take much time wandering the wasteland before hardship began to overwhelm them, and the frail fire dragons did not take kindly to it. Food was scarce, the isolation was maddening, and the longer they endured it, the more violent they became towards one another, until the clan was completely torn apart.

Grief-stricken and ashamed of the loss of their children, which had come by their own hands, Pyre and Lana vanished into the mists of the vast Boneyard, never to be seen again. In their place, one dragon was left there in the wasteland: a mirror named Pastella. In the wake of her family's hardships, her instincts had awakened and taken hold, turning her into an excellent hunter and scavenger... and a terrifying savage. From the ashes of her parents' meek fire clan, she formed a newer, better clan. Originally comprised of the rare individuals that showed up in the wasteland-- other dragons who were sick, hungry, and lost-- Pastella's clan became one of lost souls and survivors. Together, they would overcome all obstacles, cross the wasteland, and thrive.

Pastella, named for her soft, pink coloration, is anything but cute. Her vicious nature--sharpened by the harsh conditions of the Wasteland in which she grew up-- tends to drive others away. Even those within her clan aren't safe from harsh words or harm... if they have stepped out of line.

As the clan's leader, Pastella does her best to ensure the survival and improvement of her clan. She may be stern, but this is because her clanmates are important to her. So much so that she would do anything to protect them. As a group of sickly scavengers, it is imperative that they work together to survive. All setbacks and mistakes are taken very seriously, as sickness poisons the air around them and death could be waiting at any corner.

Despite her rough disposition, Pastella is not without a soft side. She once found an abandoned egg and took it in, warming and caring for it on her own. When a baby fae emerged, he became her most precious child, spoiled with a kindness that no other dragon had seen from her. To this day, though the hatchling has fully grown, he clings to Pastella's side like glue, basking in her protection. Though he is weak and cowardly, the other dragons-- despite their jealousy-- treat him kindly. Because if they don't, they will have their fearsome leader to answer to.
