Ringmaster of the Jongleur

The Ringmaster appears a perfect candidate for the lord of the Jongleur's big top: majestic, brilliant, haughty, and possessed with both an exacting creative vision and a towering, disastrous temper. Alas! He must play second fiddle to that uncharismatic traitor, Surth. It must wound his considerable ego to take on the role of Ringmaster without a spirit to back him. It’s a wonder, really, that he agreed to such a position in the first place; it is speculated that he owes Farforello a personal debt. What that could be is anyone’s guess, although it probably has something to do with the marks of Shevulah that adorn his limbs. What he was actually imprisoned for is a mystery. No-one would dare ask, after all, for fear of a tongue-lashing... A Ringmaster is not one to anger.

Grimilkin has assumed the unenviable task of keeping the flamboyant caravan master in check. Their feuds are near-legendary among the Jongleur, and often last weeks. This penchant for vivid tantrum ensures that the Ringmaster's private life is fiercely secret, and his faults never discussed; so when the Cabinetrist grows deeper and deeper shadows under his eyes with each passing day, the Jongleur at his command assume he's only working hard. The creature that haunts his sleep is never suspected, and the Ringmaster's ego is far too large to admit the truth: he is deathly afraid of the resident nightmare that lurks beneath his bed. It is, after all, a spawn of Shevulah... Even after all this time, it seems, the breath of the dreadful prison spirit mists his neck as he sleeps.
