The Ringmaster's Nightmare

Gegiartes! A name whispered in fear by children of the southern Red Lands: the skeleton licked clean by desert sands, the sickly shadow beneath the bedsheets... Gegiartes is one of the most powerful of the nightmares at Shevulah’s disposal, influential enough to garner a reputation of their own and powerful enough to manifest in the dreams of the most powerful Cabinetrists. Oh, they're a slight, silent thing in the waking world – merely a thickening of dark at the Ringmaster’s feet, the soft touch of purple beneath his eyes. But the creature is a sure artist of nightly terrors: their canvas is the myriad darknesses and dreads that poison the catacombs of Shevulah.

They know the Ringmaster well – knew him, in fact, when he still had his name and a powerful reputation. The marks of Shevulah have capped and shackled him, but his power lingers like a bad smell. Shevulah dislikes allowing its captives their freedom; it’s possible that the prison spirit sent its offspring to guard the freed magical tyrant. However it was that Gegiartes came to haunt the Ringmaster, they have followed him into Farforello’s caravan, and brought a host of Nightmares with them. Beneath their suffocating silence and hollow eyes, Gegiartes has a plan brewing: for the Ringmaster, and for the caravan at large. The great foundational spirits of the world are forever in competition, after all... and Shevulah and the Coyote are no different.
