Biography

Kepriel
Travelling Dancer
Neutral Good

PkKAmaj.png
Easily one of the more socially capable clan members, Kepriel often finds herself acting as the unofficial greeter of visitors. Of course, she can't really prepare visitors for the things that go on in the clan, but it's the thought that counts. She'll make sure to check on them later, when they've realized they're in over their heads.

As Kepriel's one of the entertainers in the clan's tavern, this is good for business. After she's helped someone get their bearings in Clan _______, they're usually interested in seeing their new friend perform. Kepriel's not helping them for her own benefit though — she's quite empathetic and doesn't like seeing anyone wandering around lost and confused. She especially doesn't like seeing anyone wandering into one of the many, many unmarked places filled with unstable and dangerous magic. Being lost will be the last of the problems of someone who does. They'll still be confused though — likely even more so than they already were.

Before living in this clan, Kepriel journeyed across the world, entertaining far-off clans with her dances. While most clans gave her a warm welcome, the dangers she met travelling between them eventually convinced her to rest her weary wings in a more permanent location. She quickly became quite appreciative of the stability of staying with a clan, and doesn't particularly miss nearly freezing to death in the Snowsquall Tundra, or wondering what could possibly be safe to eat in the Wandering Contagion.

(Somehow, chasing lost visitors across the clan grounds is nearly as much of an adventure.)

The world is a dangerous place, and thus Kepriel taught herself some defensive magic to stay safe during those travels. While her magic has never been enough to win a fight outright, it was always enough to hold an opponent back until she could escape. There were countless times where the only thing between her and a hippogriff's beak was her ability to force it to fly through a headwind. Nowadays, her magic is mostly just used to circulate some fresh air into the fortress.

Though it's not like this clan is without it's own dangers, although most of them are self-inflicted. As one of the few dragons here with actual common sense, and the even fewer without the traditional arcane eccentricity, Kepriel sometimes wonders how her clanmates have managed to survive this long. Just last week one of those aethers crashed a flying machine into the open-air museum! (It's still on display there if you're interested in taking a look at it.) Still, she'd be the first to agree that the clan has its charm, and she wouldn't abandon it for anywhere else. Well, when the clan is inevitably destroyed in a cataclysmic disaster, she'll probably abandon the ruins. But not any time before then!

Coincidentally, she actually met Tolmac during her travels, before either of them had joined the clan. She wasn't looking to hire him; instead he had requested her to judge one of his duels, because... she was around at the time. The duel in question was a musical one between the ridgeback and a rather overzealous bard; Kepriel declared Tolmac the winner for the most part just because the bard's clan had recently kicked her out. Thankful, Tolmac quickly became friends with the fae - after finishing off a rather more lethal duel the infuriated bard had just challenged.

Surprisingly, one of Kepriel's dance partners is Invernale; it turns out the normally serious librarian is willing to loosen up a bit when it comes to dance practice. They practice in one of the back rooms in the library; the largest once, since as fae dance midair they need a surprising amount of space. Interrupting practice is not recommended, unless you want to experience some of Invernale's spells firsthand.

She has recently taken up the harp in order to expand her entertainment skillset. Unfortunately, her monotone voice means she can't really sing, but being able to play and dance at the same time is still impressive.

The old stuff from "Dragons off to see the world."
Kepriel was unwanted from her old clan, kicked out to fly the skies alone. During her solitary journey she had taken a short visit to the plague land for a breather when she had accidentally entered into the territory of a small clan.
The leader, had accepted her for a short amount of time for her to get re acquainted with other dragons since it had been so long since she had met one, met a fellow temporary dragon named Storm, who had eventually left as well since he never stayed in one place.
Feeling a bit daring and more inspired to leave the small clan, she did. She left her children in the care of the clan so that they could discover their own adventure as she flew up into the sky, not turning back because the call to journey was her destiny.

Kepriel, after a long and tiring flight, found herself in the care of an Ice clan, taken in by a richly attired Spiral and an absentminded Coatl who had followed her progress into their territory. She was allowed safe passage and a place in their lair for a short duration. The Spiral who she later learned was named Asherah, took to her instantly when she learned there was another dancer staying with her clan. The two of them performed night after night when the fires were built to the beat of music and roar of the crowd. Asherah didn't want the Fae to leave as they discovered how well they worked together, but Kepriel knew she could never permanently make her home in the Southern Icefields.

Ahserah gave her pastel earrings as a parting gift and told her to come back soon.

Kepriel wandered the skys exhausted and tired. All she saw was empty sky then suddenly islands began to appear in the sky. (Whoooo Arcane) A red light gleamed and emerging from the islands was Igneous. He took her to the lair unsure of her intentions. When Kepriel told him her story he understood and allowed her to stay, but only if she helped. Starfall was coming up, a great holiday for all the Arcane members. So up to the festival she worked hard. Igneous often overseeing her. She danced when ever she could around the island and in the sky! It captured the attention of many of the dragons. Soon, they all would be dancing with her. The crystals would shine even brighter and the happiness seemed to glow through all of them. She and Igneous then had two children. Yet she felt something was missing so she left. She was a free spirit and everyone in the lair knew that, even Igneous. They all bid her goodbye, and sent her on her way. Flying to the edge of the island they resided on. They sparkled in the distance as she turned back one last time.

After quite some time, Kepriel wandered back to plague, where she had started her journey (for the most part). Through some coincidence, she met a long time friend of VNyx, what luck she had. She was welcomed with open arms by two strikingly watermelon looking imperials. Slowly she was began to be known as a dancing spirit, flitting around from place to place, going from dragon to dragon. She seemed to always be moving and performed dances for the younger ones; however, this time without a pair.

Kepriel began to miss her old homes, the dance partners she met, the parting gifts she had received and the friendliness of the different clans. After losing her spinel earrings, she was supplied by ElphabaThropp with a leg band instead. It jangled occasionally when she walked or danced and it filled her with a sense of belonging, of memory even of her past adventures. Later on, she decided to go on her earlier instinct and visit one of her previous homes, hoping to be taken up into the same open arms.
