Renaissance fell in love with Roulette's charms the moment they met and joined Clan Dorsia as soon as they were mated. Before, she worked as a traveling artist, wandering around the Shadowbinder's vast territory with nothing but an easel and paints and bartering her works for food and shelter. She had heard whispers of a clan called Dorsia, but like most dragons, did not believe it to actually exist. It wasn't until she met Roulette that she was able to see past the clan's extensive glamours and illusionary magics, revealing itself to her as a result of her fated bond with her mate.

Now, Renaissance is content to paint by Roulette's side while her girlfriend rakes in gold from unsuspecting passerbys in games of chance. They occasionally travel together to assuage Renaissance's wanderlust, but rarely venture outside the Wood.

"If the fabric that separates earth and eternity is so threadbare, a chute to hell yawning open beneath your feet at any moment, then it makes sense to name your roads Gethsemane or Golgotha, Sinai or Calvary. Set aside even common land as hallowed. There is no bright line between now and forever."

— Joni Tevis, “The Lay of the Land,” in The World is on Fire: Scrap, Treasure, and Songs of Apocalypse
