Biography
BloodySnow
Well met, my good fellow! What brings you to our beautiful lair on this equally beautiful day?
BloodySnow considers himself something of a knight errant. Unusually for a lightning dragon, he always enjoyed fanciful tales and old stories of dragons who went questing and undertook great deeds, in the name of honor or their noble mate. As a young hatchling, he enjoyed acting out such scenes with his friends and siblings, sometimes energetically playing several parts if he couldn't find enough playmates to fill the roles, and amusing everyone as he attempted to duel himself. He never did have much interest in machinery or blueprints, and could hardly manage to sit still long enough to tighten a screw or replace a bolt. It was clear to all that he wanted to be not just a warrior but a hero, and go out journeying on his own personal quest.
As soon as he was old enough, BloodySnow bid his clan a fond farewell, and set out. He loved traveling, seeing new sights and meeting all sorts of dragoms, and energetically set himself to righting wrongs, helping the helpless, and deeds of derring-do. Although he sometimes got himself into trouble rushing into situations before he was prepared properly and coming out on the losing end of several fights where there were more enemies than he could handle, he always managed, through a combination of luck and skill, to come out mostly unharmed. He wasn't the greatest tactician, but he was incredibly fast and agile, and skilled in his use of his elemental magic. Lightning being especially good for offensive magic, it helped him to victory more than once.
Even after he'd won, he still felt the need to try to help everyone who had been involved. Those who he had just knocked down were often surprised to see him lending a paw to help them up, and asking why they'd been robbing travelers on this road, or picking on a dragon who was smaller than they were. Despite his air of cheerful, slightly ditzy, bravado, he was a good listener, and his obvious concern often led those who he'd been fighting to open up to him. He obviously wanted to help everyone, and once he applied his considerable energy to the problem, as though it was a monster he had to attack from all angles until he found its weak point, he more often than not found he could help.
Even though he couldn't win every time, or help everyone he came across, and sometimes ended up rather the worse for his troubles, BloodySnow still maintained his optimistic outlook. After all, no hero ever triumphed every time either, did they? He had to learn from his setbacks at some point. Even though he acquired a nick in his ear and a faint raggedness to his wings, he stayed optimistic, continuing on his quest. He hoped to one day find some clan worthy of serving, that he could settle down with and call his own.
He was wandering through the Windswept Plateau when he heard the sounds of a skirmish happening in the distance. As always, he hurried to lend his aid to the party who needed it, and found a small group of dragons facing a clutch of serthis, who seemed attired for a raid. Although they were holding their own, he still wanted to help, and plunged into the battle with a second thought. Suddenly, he found himself fighting alongside the most enchanting pearlcatcher he had ever met. Not only was she beautiful, but she was a skilled fighter. Many of the stories he had read had extolled the virtue of paying court and honor to a noble and beautiful mate, but his favorites has been the one where their clever lady or resourceful beau helped them in their own way. Secretly, he had always longed for someone who would stand by his side as a partner as well as his beloved.
Immediately after the battle, he made his admiration known, bowing over her paw in a courtly manner, and complimenting her beauty, her grace, and her prowess as a warrior. He asked her name, and when he heard it, declared that HiddenShadow must be loveliest name in the world, to match the loveliest dragon. Although she responded shyly, he knew there was a core of steel beneath her shyness, and hoped that there might be affection beneath it as well. He knew that this was the clan he was meant to join. Their numbers were small but growing, and they could use a brave knight to guard and defend them. And where else could he go, when he'd already lost his heart among them?
He was accepted into the clan as soon as he asked, and more slowly, but surely, he was accepted into HiddenShadow's heart as well. Although she was quiet and sometimes withdrawn, he showed the same patience and concern with which he had talked enemies around to friends, letting her reveal her feelings to him slowly and on her own time. He discovered that she was just as driven as he was to protect those who were innocent and helpless within the clan, in her own quiet way. She had a deeply hidden well of strength that he couldn't help but admire. Sometimes she would turn inwards, as though plagued by unhappy memories, and he made it his duty to cheer her up and draw her back out, whether by showering her with flower petals, or reciting verses made up on the spot praising her, from her horn down to the tip of her tail, and always drawing a smile, even a laugh from her. They hold an obvious affection for each other to anyone who looks, and the two of them are well matched both as mates and protectors of their clan.
No one need fear while I stand by to defend them!
