Persona Spirit is calm and mild mannered, having learned from her father how to ingratiate herself to would-be babblers and soak in more information than she shares. Though young guardians are supposed to be stronger physically than they are with magic, she has also picked up that skill from him as well. The purple tentacles on her body were tattooed on her by the Darkened Sisters when she came of age and found her Charge, though some say that in the darker shadows they slowly writhe along her skin. Despite the strangeness of these tattoos and rumors that they contain some unnatural binding spell though, she has is becoming an admirable leader, and supersedes Mantra as heir to the throne. Background Spirit was raised as royalty within her clan. A princess and heir to her father's position and duty, she was closely tutored to know of titles, history, strengths of other clans, religion, politics, and war tactics. Magic, however, was where she excelled the most. Though guardians are known for their physical prowess in their youth and are known to gather more magic in their old age, Spirit never lacked for ability with spells, and while she was an obedient and dutiful student for other subjects, learning and practicing magic was her keenest interest. When she grew older and was preparing to leave her clan to go on Search, she first went to the Darkened Sister's temple to spend a week in seclusion and prayer. When the temple doors closed behind her however, it was a full month before they reopened. Spirit emerged thin and weak, her body scarred, malnourished, and covered in tattoos of shadowy tentacles. Though her mother was outraged, Spirit would not speak of what had occurred in the temple anymore than the Darkened Sisters, and once recovered she clearly exhibited a a stunning ability in magic that outstripped any others in the clan, including Spindle and her own father. When she recovered and was asked when she would go on her Search, she casually stated that her clan was her Charge and she would never leave. Since then, she has taken a keen interest in aiding her father, and often rules as proxy in his stead over minor matters. Derangement Emotional detachment. Spirit is usually calm and quick to smile, but her eyes are always cold and her tepid mood never seems to stem from whatever is currently occurring. She has watched her mother brutally maim an enemy in a duel with the same calm regard that she greets her friends with. |
