.If you looked up the word “disgusting” in the dictionary, Simon the Horrendous face would be in the centerfold. Once a loving king who was loved and cherished, now a toxic, disgusting mess. He grew up in a stressful environment, his dad always pressuring him to be his very best and his mother never around. He tried his best to be humble, and become much better than his own family, but the sudden rush to power took effect on him.

Simon’s father abandoned him, to “sign a treaty” with a neighbouring shadow clan, but it didn’t go to plan. He was forced to reign over a clan at a very young age, which affected his mental health to a new extreme. Overwhelmed with pressure, he got angry, vile, and rude.

Along the lines of his reign, he managed to find his (now ex) mate, Pearl. Although she was riddled with gembound, he fell in love. Though he felt so out of character, he did his best to make her happy, because when he saw her happy, HE was happy. But… the pressure got too much. Sometimes, Pearl wasn’t as happy as he wanted her to be, and he got aggressive, but he did it for love… didn’t he?

Most of the time, Pearl didn’t need his help. She’s very independent, and was very capable of doing things for herself.. But that’s not what Simon wanted. He wanted to kiss the ground at her feet, to do everything for her, but.. She wouldn’t have it.

Soon, it became too much. Pearl wanted children, but Simon…
Simon didn’t want his kids to be mutants.
To be freaks.

One night, He tried to fix Pearl. To make her healthy and normal. To make her happy! This gembound disease was eating her alive, and he didn’t want that to happen to HIS Pearl. They got into a physical fight, which resulted in Simon yanking off one of her gems, blood gushing everywhere. Pearl took this as a sign to pick up one of their kids, Opal, and flee. Bee, their only son, wasn’t so lucky, and is stuck with his father, too afraid to run away.

Now, Simon spends his day lurking around, The scars on his legs are from a potential mate who Simon forcefully threw himself on. He feels betrayed by his Pearl, who left him, and is forever trying to find someone to replace her. So he can feel happy again, the way his Pearl made him. How is he supposed to be happy when he can’t make someone else happy?

After Pearl had fled away, Simon resorted in finding a new… obsession. It started off with one mistress- a blue pearlcatcher named Lunaria. Lunaria was the first; the original. She was the one who deserved the world- and merely got the leftovers. The czar wouldn’t have picked her first if she wasn’t the most important after all, right?

Soon more and more mistresses flooded in, either kidnapped from Delmore’s adventures or snatched away from. There was Daphane, a pale yellow sweetheart who fell in love with him- she was only a child when she got “rescued” by Simon, so brainwashing was too easy.
Then came Amaranth. And Mellea. And Asphodel. And Justicia. And Xeadas. And Laburnum. Even the Czar forgot their names from time to time.

Justicia and Laburnum became victims to Moniz the Terrifying, and both got transorbital lobotomies. The resistance boiling inside of them became too much of a risk to the clan, or so Simon told Moniz. After the operation they became mindless puppets, their marionette strings tied around the evil czar’s claw

Mellea was one of the freedom seekers- she managed to escape to the bramble, where she met an imperial, which is strange, for the Czar didn’t take kindly to competition. His name was Chanterelle, and he was a witch doctor. It was love at first sight. She snuck out as much as possible, and helped Chanty gather ingredients he needed for his spells

Xeadas was “the lucky one”. The Czar liked her the most- and even managed to have a clutch with her. The kids came out… strange. Their names were Artemis, an imperial, Orion, and Matrices, who were pearlcatchers. The two pearlcatchers were forgotten and ignored, and soon became estranged from their father. Artemis became spoiled. Her father LOVED her, and she loved the attention. An awful person, really. She took after her father, after all.

The tension arose in the kingdom as the Czar slowly grew more and more terrifying. Soon enough, after enough pleas from the kingdom and the piles of letters from the mistresses, Opal, Simon’s child and own blood, took it to her duty and killed the Czar, thus making the clan Penumbra Czar-free. Bee, the expected Czar, wasn’t ready for the responsibility, as he was in love. So, Steffan the Incredible took on the role as Czar, with Bee as his Prime Minister.
