You get: a journal entry written by the traveler Tasha Secondsmith

Date Unknown
Location: The Borderlands Between the Labyrinth and the Tangled Woods

Oh, I have been a fool. But I have to hurry, lest she slip from me again.

This message seems to be the most promising in the while, sent by one of my more trusted contacts. Go to the Great Tree. Speak to the Seeker bound in its roots. They will have marked your blacksmith’s passage and give you a token of such. I find it fortunate that I was already within the Shadow domain; two day’s worth of swift flying on favorable winds may find me there.

There is a reason I usually go by foot. I have never been the best flyer, and bad weather can bar all but the most favored and the most talented. But this time I decided it was worth the risk, and the sky spat me out at the border between Shadow and Nature. Had it not been for the electricity in my bones, I surely would have been fried in that storm-tossed sky.

I landed in a gully that was strangely vacant of life, save for a ring, many feet in diameter, of ghostly lavender flowers. A holy flower, I recognized: one of protection and binding. As I got to my feet, they bent toward me as towards the sun, and with slow dread I saw a pit near the center.

With slow steps, I approached, and there I saw a serpent.

Surely, once this creature had been a spiral, but now there was something too jagged, too uncanny about the curve of its spine. I count myself lucky, here and now, for its eyes were closed and its legs twitched in slumber, but even then I could mark the slow ooze of murk from its eyes. No mage am I, but there could be no mistaking the fury and rage in this creature’s form.

The heather caressed my legs. It must have been the thing keeping the serpent still.

What fight had been wrought here? What manner of dragons had imprisoned this creature here?

In my home clan, primal eyes were simply a sign of power or godly favor. Any dragon, if caught by a deity’s eye or if they channeled enough power, could exhibit the beginnings of primal eyes. I’d seen it in my clan leader herself, striking down a Shade-touched creature with her mighty longbow, wiping black tears out of her eyes afterwards.

The creature stirred, and I held myself still until its twitching subdued.

I will not mince words. I fled that place. Should that serpent have spoke to me…

I might not have been able to leave.

Nachtmar looks at the fiend devilishly, a sparkle in his eyes. "Let's make a deal, shall we?"

Quote:
"The creature seems more than pleased to make a deal with the devious Spiral. He likes that glint in those purple eyes and conjures up a few items in exchange for directions to the nearest place with good food and good service."
-SilverDeath

"He doesn't really have any specific lore, but he is generally cunning and menacing when you're around him. He will never directly hurt you, but he certainly doesn't try to hide who he is. At one time he was the fortune teller, medicinal dragon, and soothsayer of my clan, but I'm not too sure with his new primal. Only time will tell what he becomes"

"You have questions I hear?" His face splits into a sly grin. "Well my dear... I have answers. For a teensey weensey-" he pokes his claw into your chest, "-price. You must answer the same one, we'll do it together! If you don't want to... then maybe someone from your clan might join in on the fun. We wouldn't want to have to hog all the limelight, would we?" He had twisted into such a way that it made it hard to escape.

Uhm... B-Beyond the titles that others have given you, who are you?

What a wonderful question my dear.” Vulturius murmurs, pale yellow eyes lazily regarding the Spiral. “I’ll play your game... And I’ll answer honestly.” The Major comfortably sits down besides the flea-sized question asker, but when he opens his mouth to answer the question, his gaze is trained on the Spiral. “I’ve had many titles assigned to me. Some good, some bad, and most of them reflect on who I am. For instance, I enjoy my title of “Monster”. I rarely get that one now-a-days.” A slow smile spreads across his lips. “Maybe it’s because I’m such a gentleman.” He laughs. “But no... strip my titles away and you will find a cursed creature torn in half by the love and hatred of two gods, feverishly writhing in his world of pain and isolation.
-Sillywinter

"Ah... what a question!" He grinned, teeth showing in his mirth. As he listened to the major, he took in some of the marks on his skin and his choice of clothing. Some of the things he wore seemed sun-bleached and his hide radiated the desert heart. It seemed like he knew the woes of battle, the hardships of having to make due and be a leader. Interesting.

"A monster, you say? I can relate in some ways, in others not as much." He checked his claws for dirt, making sure to keep the imperial in his peripheral vision. "What makes you such a monster, hm? I suppose that's the important (and exciting) part!" He spiraled a little closer.

"Now, to answer your question. To some I am the devil, to others I am their savior. Few like me and even fewer trust me, but not a one doubts my skills. I am a sayer of words and an honest one at that, I never lie and enjoy games more than most. I suppose I live up to my name, a nightmare can't always be full of of darkness. There must be some meaning in there, something to keep you sane at the end of the day." He looked at Vulturius with a glimmer in his eye. "So tell me.. what do you hide?"
