Biography

X Born deep in the Viridian Labrynthm, Eissu was the embodiment of a Nature dragon: wild and free. Being a Wildclaw, she was also a keen predator with the arrogance to match. Arrogant enough to mock the matriarch of her clan. Young Eissu was easily dispatched in the subsequent duel, and banished to survive the Shrieking Wilds on her own.

Now homeless, Eissu wandered the Gladekeeper's domain, managing enough to keep her alive. But it wasn't good enough in her mind, not having anyone around to admire her, to paint her lair, to hunt for her as she broods a nest. Eventually, she ventured southward into the Sunbeam Ruins, assuming she could easily overpower the scholars of the Light and start her own clan. She was very quickly proven wrong when she ambushed a group of researchers along the edge of the Hewn City. She was caught off guard when she was simply batted away.

Rather than scorn her, however, Jeverinth invited her to join the clan in order to learn proper fighting techniques and offer any knowledge she may have. While she learned a few refined moves, the only thing that truly kept her in the clan was finding a mate in Nixivos. The two Wildclaws found peace together both in sparring and in raising a few nests. It wasn't to last, however, as her upbringing and aggressive nature caused more and more rifts among those who wanted to lead a more peaceful life. Even Nixivos, tempered by his upbringing and magical affinity to the Light, found her tactics reckless.

Once again, Eissu would abandon her clan, though this time guided by Coyotyl to go to the Agency with a few others of the clan. If they dared think she would accept this fate laying down, well, clearly they didn't understand the warrior within her.
The Agency did not sit well with Eissu, for many weeks. Her wild and free Nature impulses, and he own predatory arrogance combined poorly, and led to numerous sparing matches between her and the other members of the Agency.

The final and most painful, though perhaps least harmful, of these scuffles came when Eissu settled her sights on one of the Agency's most mysterious, and most dangerous, Guardians. Her first attempt to aim a claw at the Guardian's sleeping form was met by a full-on tackle by the Agency's massive Snapper guard. She was knocked halfway across the lair, a move that, rather than getting her to back down, signaled to her the beginning of a true challenge. She stretched her wings, memories of Jeverinth's training coming back easily. Snappers couldn't fly, not that she liked to, but an aerial assault would be best. She would show them what she was capable of. Eissu launched herself into the sky-

-and collided with the fragile feathered wing of a Skydancer. Then the Snapper, out of nowhere (unfair, they don't fly, they can't fly) slammed into her again and she dropped.

She looked up into the sky, working hard to catch her breath. Arcturus wobbled, then extended a wind to block the sun that was shining across her vision. Beside he, the darkest, most drab Coatl Eissu had ever seen (they are supposed to be colorful, aren't they? is this one sick?) nodded grimly. Cobwebs, hanging from a heavy, stained, cleaver, spun in the breeze.

"She'll do," he said, in the odd clicking way Coatls spoke to other dragons.

After that, Eissu didn't spend much time in the Agency lairs. She and the Coatl, Mercy, spent most of their time in the Mire, or the deep blackness of the Hewn City, or else in the soft muffled silence of the Ghostlight Ruins, working on his research - Mistwatch Shellions. Unlike all those other dragons, the Coatl appreciated her as she was. She hardly noticed the way ambushes in the dark forests that nearly tore Mercy's wing off charged her arrogance into a more cautious confidence. She was unaware of how bricks falling from ruins for no reason, how fog twisting and obscuring Mercy, how the sudden slow croaking of that Shellion that'd gotten into their camp that one windy, stormy night had made her draw a little closer to the people around her, had made her appreciate just the smallest bit being a part of a team, gave her recklessness a more caution edge. And she most certainly didn't notice how the hours spent stuck researching, hours spent digging her claws into the dirt in boredom, slowly became less intolerable, became, even, somewhat enjoyable. An extension of the way she'd learned where to hit this kind of dragon, or why that move worked against that kind of enemy.

She didn't notice these things. Not that she would have admitted it if she had.

Months later, she did notice when Mercy asked Arcturus' permission to borrow Eissu, so to speak, to work on publishing a newsletter about their findings. It sounded like the worst possible thing in the entire world, most definitely not something she wanted to do, but...it was better than hanging around the lair all day, waiting for Mercy to come get her for another jaunt out to the mire.
