Biography
Izanagi
The Exalted
|
His first thought upon hatching was 'Hunt'. So he hunted, clumsy at first but improving with each failure and each success. He devoured his tiny kills with satisfaction and pride. When his stomach was full, his next thought was sleep. So he tracked his own scent back to his cast off shell, sheltered by scrub and one particularly large rock. An instinct said that something was off, there was a loneliness about the nest and there shouldn't have been. The nest seemed safe enough though, so he decided to dwell on the loneliness when he next woke. It wouldn't be until later the next day that he would understand the instinct. He was hunting again, and thus far having much more success. He had just made a kill under one of the few trees in the plains when he heard chirping from a branch above him. Looking up he saw a tinny nest, in which a small bird was feeding its chicks. He understood then, the loneliness he felt. Where were his parents? Siblings? |
That night, curled in his nest, he resolved to leave this scrub and this rock. He would search out answers to the questions. But first he would need to get bigger. He had seen the large raptors in the sky and knew they were a threat, he also knew there would be many threats other than them. Weeks and many, many hunts later, he deemed himself big enough. The first being he encountered was a large drake, larger than him with fins and a beard on his face. It would be this drake, this Guardian, that would name him Izanagi and teach him what he knew of the world. These short lessons of the different realms and their elemental magics would be where Izanagi first learned of the shaded lands. Izanagi soon parted ways with the Guardian. He was on a hunt of knowledge and answers, and the Guardian had his babbling brook, his charge, to tend to. Izanagi encountered many dragons and many clans after that. Some saw him as a threat and chased him away, others saw him as a wander and invited him to stay a night. It was from these welcoming clans that he found some of the answers he was seeking. Every now and then, an egg will be discovered. There will be no parents in sight, and no clues to its origin. Some veiw this egg as a gift and creation of the Windsinger, or of the ruling Deity of a land. Regardless, sometimes the egg is not found and will hatch alone, left to fend for its self in its most vulnerable time. Izanagi knew now, there was no lost family or clan for him to find. Oddly, that fact didn't bother him all that much. He was saddened to know that he was alone, but the hunt for an answer was over. Now he had a new hunt to embark on, a hunt for a desire. Izanagi thought back to that first drake and the breif talk of the shaded lands, that is where he would start. He asked all he met of those lands, and he learned of them and the Deity that ruled them. The Shadowbinder. He learned of the eternal prowling hunt through dark forests, and he decided. That was his desire. |
