Though faes are naturally very monotonus, Hibiscus was never a very emotionally restricted dragon. She always wore her heart on her sleeve as a hatchling. This behavior, however, was not accepted lightly be the other faes she had been living with. Her family all punished her verbally, attempting to make her more fae-like. Due to their harsh words and emotional abuse, Hibiscus' bouncy, free spirit was broken and she became very monotonous and melancholic.
After some time living in misery, she decided she could not stay with her birth clan anymore. She did not know whether she could regain her previous personality, but Hibiscus knew distancing herself was the first major step and chance at recovery. She started her journey by leaving the land that her colony inhabited and made appeals to the gods to transform her to their element. Earthshaker accepted her request and allotted her land to start a clan of her own.
Filbert was the first dragon to join her clan, arriving nearly in the same instant she did. They quickly fell in love and accepted one another as mates.The two had a shaky start due to Hibiscus' incredibly monotonous manner. Then, as they were training in the coliseum, Filbert was taken down in battle and Hibiscus let her emotions take over, fighting the enemies with all her fury. She realized the extent of her emotions for her mate in that instant, and the two have since bonded and overcome all of the barriers they faced.
Furthermore, this incident helped to loosen Hibiscus' emotional restraint, and she has since been working steadily to further that progress.

When she investigated further, she realized that the sprangyroo had beaten her to the lair. She couldn't kick him out, but when he proved he wasn't aggressive, she figured that the budding clan could adopt him into their ranks.
