____Vellath when she was young wandered the lands, trying to figure out existance itself. She stumbled into a guardian, their meeting turned to friendship, their friendship turned to love. Slowly their clan grew and Vellath herself mothered three beautiful sons. They were her everything.

Her heart was broken when she found their nest at home empty and cold. Quent was there to comfort her. Her sons were taken by something in the shadows; and Vellath was devastated. She felt like she failed as a mother and as a clan leader. From then on she devoted herself to her clan. Taking in orphans, desperately trying to replace the sons she lost. And then one night as she was finishing up her offering to the Shadowbinder for more land she came face to face with one of her sons.

____Brendan told him all. It was Quent who stole them away. It was Quent who forced them into exalt. And it was Quent behind her back who really ruled the clan. Vellath knowing at least her sons were alive rushed home, and beat down on the guardian with all of a mother's fury. She banished him, never wanting to see his face again. She even moved her clan to a different flight, wanting to be away from it all.

Quent attacked her in her sleep, leaving no escape or chance to fight back, but instead of just killing her he offered her a choice. She can die right now and everyone loyal to her will die too. Or she lives and submits to Quent's rule, remaining in a place of relative standing within the community. The next morning as the sun came up and the clan gathered at the ransacked home of their matriarch, Vellath standing upon the ruins with Quent towering behind her announced his new rule.
