Undine originated in the Sea of a Thousand currents, where she lived as a loner with her best friend Erubetie. Their life was quite simple in the terms of hunting, occasional traveling, resting, and repeating, however one day Erubetie decided that she had to venture out past their sea home in search of something more, something she could not explain to her smaller companion. Undine spent several months living truly alone until the Guardian returned, asking the Nocturne to join a clan that had recently been formed in the Tangled Wood. Undine was astonished by this news. Erubetie was never the type to get along with other flights, let alone other species of dragon. After all, both water dragons had been oppressed and driven from their original clan home as young hatchlings, so even Undine had her misgivings about joining a group. However, if their leader had persuaded Erubetie to stay, she decided it must be something special.

Shortly after her arrival, Undine was appointed a water mage due to her skill in the element. It is often debated whether or not hers or Salamander's power is harder to use, though she believes her own is more difficult, as very few dragons outside of her element understand how to connect with the flow of the world, and even those who are water dragons never know what she's talking about. Clan life didn't open up the introverted Nocturne much, as Erubetie is still the only dragon she considers a true friend, though she is slowly starting to warm up to the other mages, as well as some of her worthy pupils.
