______ The war had been hard, or so she was told. She wouldn’t know, she had nothing to compare it to, having been born in the middle of it. That war, that slaughter of dragons had seemed so far off as she and her clan stayed hidden away in the Sunbeam Ruins. They had been hidden for a long time, and so they would stay. She had ventured out, wandering for a while, and even daring to have a small fling with an Imperial from the land of wind before coming back home, where a mate had been selected for her. He was as she is, a shimmering white dragon, bound to give the pure white heirs that their line demanded. Though some of their offspring took on the blueish hue of their father, all were wonderful, and all could have taken the throne. And yet, her own parents were still alive, and it would be a while still until she was able to take over. She or one of her many sisters and brothers. She soon learned, though, that everything can change in only a moment.

______ She had been awakened one night by light outside of their lair. A bright, orange light that could only come from fire. A fire, she soon realized, that was threatening to burn all that she knew. Her home, her family, her everything would go up in flames. She remembers everyone, her parents, siblings, mate and children trying to desperately escape as enemy forces flooded their lair, but in the end, only three escaped. She, and two of her siblings, only one of which was an heir like her. They had taken only a small few possessions when they left, having snuck out of the tunnels beneath the lair, all three agreeing that it would be best to go their separate ways, never to speak again.

______ Alouette had wandered, then, for weeks on end, avoiding the places she would love to go back to. Her heart ached to return to the land of wind, to find the handsome imperial from her time there, but she could not. Her pursuers would only find her there , and so she headed elsewhere, through the Shifting Expanse, and into the Ashfall Waste. She was found, wandering and alone, covered in ash, and completely lost. She had seen them, the armored Nocturnes, and thought she was done for. Her fears did not come true, however. She was lead to their lair, and taken in as a refugee. She told them her story, and soon was made an ambassador for the clan, her royal heritage and diplomatic roots making themselves more and more useful with each encounter with different clans. Eventually she was named an heir to the clan itself, the leader having exalted all of his own offspring, declaring them unfit to be his heirs.

______ Only time would tell when she would take the crazy, old Mirror’s place, but for now she is content to move about the lair, helping the dragons in the clan whenever and however she could. She became incredibly fascinated with the mechanical work done by a young dragon named Spark, and equally fascinated with him.
