B I O G R A P H Y

She had seen the wars. Had been there in the days when clans turned on themselves and divided. She remembered a time when she was much younger, and a war raged on within the Ashfall waste. She had stayed in the den, helping brew potions and create healing salves for the warriors. This, of course, wasn't to say she couldn't fight. She had chosen not to. She had watched him. Tended to him when he was wounded and then, when the war was over, and he left his clan, she had gone with him. It had been a silent agreement that they would leave, and start their own clan in that land. Though mirrors were not native to the Ashfall Waste, they had been born there. Where else would they go? It was all they knew.

Though Balefire watched over his clan, his troops as he sometimes called them, she watched over him. Bandaging whatever he had hurt in the coliseum, and helping him to find dragons to strengthen their clan, even convincing him to find someone, anyone, who could help teach the younger dragons to fight since he refused. Though her mate likes to think he is in charge of them all , she knows the truth. It is Nycire who runs the clan, not Balefire.

As Balefire ages, it falls to Nycire to maintain some form of sanity, to temper his paranoia and take a larger role in the clan’s leadership. She now trains beside him in the coliseum, preparing for the day when he is no longer fit to lead, or one of the planned rebellions comes to pass. Thankfully, she has been able to appoint ambassadors for the clan, so that others don’t see the downward spiral Balefire is slipping into. It wouldn’t look good if other clans knew his paranoia.

Balefire’s mate, and the only one able to temper his less-than-stellar tendencies. The two met on a large, ill-fated dreadnaught in the middle of one of many conflicts with the plague fleet. At first, they had been in the same fighter pack, and that was all. But a bond grew between them, eventually leading the two to break off from their pack and save themselves while their ship and it’s fighters were slowly assimilated into the mutated mess of biotechnology. Now-a-days, Nycire is still cautious of anything plague, however she’s mellowed out since that first encounter, even convincing Balefire to bring in a small pack of plague mirrors for the sake of an offense.
