Biography
LAIR FOR THE LOST AND SEARCHING
PURPURANOCTE
Tailor |
Intelligent | Awkward | Straightforward
Purpuranocte left her original clan as soon as she was old enough. While her siblings and parents loved to talk and gossip she was always oddly straightforward and not given to idle chatter. What's more, from the time of her hatching Purpuranocte was never good at reading or using body language and tended to move herself with quick, bird-like mannerisms. Without the easy social nature of her kin or smooth, elegant mystery of her flight, Purpura felt that leaving was her only option. Unfortunately, she had no place to go. She got by as best she could - meandering along riverbanks, traversing coastlines and following brooks and streams, foraging and finding shelter where she could. But the nomadic life did not suit her, and she began to lose herself to solitude and survival, becoming little more than a wisp drifting about on currents. It was a clear and frosty Autumn night when Purpura curled up on the banks of a stream at the edge of the Crystalspine reaches. As she stared off into the night, the darkness in front of her began to move; to waver gently, at first, but gradually to form into a mass of coils and feathers until Ravenstag stood directly before her. After an eternity of stillness, silently, he tilted his head to her - a bird-like movement. And Purpura knew she should not be afraid. She followed the black dragon through the night to the doorstep of this lair and the mess of friendly oddities within, and has never looked back. What Purpuranocte lacks in social graces she makes up for in intelligence. Her uncensored words and sharp avian grace can be startling at first, but are easy to look past once you accept her manner. Purpura hovered awkwardly about the lair at first, unsure of what she could contribute to the clan. Until, that is, Procellanix - who has great talent regarding fashion but only very average sewing skills - tore one of her silks and fell into a dreadful sulk. Suddenly and without permission or warning Purpura slid the silk from Procellanix's wing and disappeared into the lair, returning half an hour later with a silk so skillfully repaired that the stitching could only be seen under a magnifying lens. Since, Purpura has served as the clan tailor, managing the lair wardrobe with Procella and repairing all manner of clothing and upholstery. She has a gift for embroidery and has embroidered - by claw - the most beautiful intricate designs on every tablecloth and napkin in the Teahouse. Although it's hard for her to express it, she cares deeply for her new family. Initially Sanra took a dislike to Purpura, but with time they have actually become quite close friends - prone to loud arguments, but always working it out in the end. Procellanix constantly tries to help Purpura relate better to others, but it never really seems to take; they get on splendidly anyway. Not long ago Gnothi shyly began to court Purpura. It took her a while to realise what was happening, but once she did, she equally shyly but wholeheartedly returned his feelings, though they are taking things slowly.
