Gnothi's quiet nature and dry wit always isolated him from other dragons, even his own kind. Although he was and always tried to be good company, his manner could be awkward, and few took the time to get to know him. This only served to make him more unsure of how to connect and so more quiet, eventually leading to him spending more and more time alone. Before long, he spent most of his days isolated. Over the years sadness and bitterness began to seep into his mind as he wandered aimlessly, avoiding any contact with other dragons. Not without pain, he resigned himself to a solitary existence.

One cold, damp evening he took shelter amongst the weaving stems of a strangler fig where he was unexpectedly (and loudly) joined by a large and friendly ball of fluff named Aude. Despite his attempts to flee, Aude coaxed him into conversation, and after a few awkward attempts he began to relax. The pair ended up camped under that tree for three days, chatting. As she saw his pain and awkwardness fall away and his sardonic wit begin to appear, Aude told him about her idea for a lair for those such as he, and herself. Gnothi felt he might finally have a place to fit in, and with Aude to help others to see past his quiet to the sparkling wit and good-naturedness within him, he thought he might just have found his purpose and his home.

Gnothi is a quiet fellow. He has a very dry wit and straightforward manner that not everyone appreciates. He will always speak his mind when asked, which can also be taken by some as him being sharp, but he doesn't have an unkind bone in his body. He will go to the ends of any and all realms to help anyone in need, with a dogged stubbornness that cannot be argued with. He loves to know things and to have deep discussions with others who are also passionate about knowledge, though he will tend to listen more than speak himself. He is a great source of wisdom for those who visit the lair. While Aude spends her days managing personalities and overseeing the more social aspects of the lair, Gnothi manages the day to day affairs and resolves issues regarding clan stores and infrastructure. All major decisions are presided over by both Gnothi and Aude, as well as a rotating council of other permanent clan members.

He and Aude are very close friends who trust each other implicitly. He also has a dear friend in Sanra, and regularly plays chess with Ravenstag. Recently, Gnothi has begun courting Pupuranocte (and so far it is going very well). He has also found a good friend and a like mind in Leo.
