♫ arcana: the lovers circle: hiero, breeze occupation: guard, explorer |
free winds in a boundless sky, bathing in warmth on sun-soaked rocks, and exploring temples full of wonders and adventure... these are sol's favorite things. so then how did such a dragon wind up living in the gloomy enclose of the tangled wood? born amid the twisting crescendo, sol was seized with the spirit of adventure and the windsinger's gift of the call to travel. she spent her time as a child practicing combat skills and reading up on maps and accounts of past heroes. grown but not yet fully matured, she decided it was time to break free of the nest, packing supplies and wishing her family a loving goodbye as she struck out for the lightweaver's territory, a land full of warmth and radiance and ancient structures. young and heedless of advice, she felt herself prepared to take the shortcut across the sea of a thousand currents rather than trek through lava and lightning. little did she realize how strenuous the journey outside of the soft and gentle winds of home would be. the sea of currents is a great expanse, mostly flat and lacking in landmarks from the surface. there were few places to touch down and rest, little to guide the way, and frequent squalls. by the time she reached the opposite shore days later she was exhausted, ragged, and further west than she'd planned. instead of triumphantly touching down into the sunbeam ruins, she reluctantly crawled beneath the heavy canopy of the tangled woods in search of shelter and direction. but if the sea of a thousand currents is a featureless expanse, the tangled woods is an insidious maze designed to trick and trap and confuse. her weariness only grew, growing into sickness as she wandered for more days, too weak to fly free of the web of thorns above. finally she caught wind of strange sounds weaving through the thicket- bells and pipes, eerie and yet bringing back memories of home... in this way she stumbled into the carillon clan, where the twins offered to take her in until she recovered. defeated in both body and spirit, she lingered in shame, getting to know the new faces around her. though a clan housed in shadow, several elements of their windy beginnings were kept alive around the lair, and many of the devious denizens proved friendly as well. touched with a tinge of homesickness, nocturne instinct, and humility, she decided to stay on for a while, asking breeze, the captain of the royal guard, to take her on as a student and train her. she still thrills for travel and adventure and is often restless being hidden away with the rest of the clan, but she has made solid friends and gained valuable experience. hiero is the best of these friends, a light dragon who never fails to cheer her up and reminds her of free air and the warmth of the sun. when she's not on guard duty she takes him off to explore the shadows and ruined temple structures in the land, poking her nose into danger and the unknown. |
