Clan Matriarch

Caroline is the only daughter of Cassandra, and has ascended to fulfill the position of Clan Matriarch. She leads the clan now that Cassandra has retired in light of her injuries from the Wyrmwound. After Caroline's father Cedric returned from the Arcanist's lands with spells to combat the disease, Cassandra came to realize that the clan was suffering under her lack of guidance, and stepped down for Caroline to take her place. Caroline originally had not wanted the position as she is a craftsman and a blacksmith at heart, more content shaping weapons and armor and fine jewelry than as the leader of a clan. However, she grew more accustomed to her role over time, eventually embracing it fully.

Caroline is kind but stern, a fair and pragmatic leader. She believes in the merit of a dragon's actions, and is willing to give everyone a chance to prove themselves. She has little patience for fools and slackers, and has little talent for diplomacy. Early in her leadership, she nearly started feuds with several other clans, wars which were narrowly avoided by the intervention of her adoptive sister Eve. Since then, Eve has fulfilled the role of representing and speaking for the clan as she has a much higher tolerance for the sort of wordsmithing required by politics than Caroline, and is much better at smoothing over scuffed scales.

Caroline found Marcone as a young dragonling while out scavenging in the Windswept Plateau, backed into a corner by a flight of Talonok warriors. Marcone was fierce despite her young age, snapping back at the warriors and even killing a few herself. Caroline came down on them and sent them flying with her fiery magic, saving the young Guardian. She spent several days coaxing Marcone into trusting her enough to come back to the clan with her. Over time, she and Marcone became incredibly close as mother and daughter, as close as Cory and Anastasia would have been in another life, one where all members of the clan but Cory had been slaughtered. When Caroline steps down as head of the clan herself, Marcone will be taking her place.
