   g a r d e n e r Symphony is a flamboyant and light hearted fellow, tending to the clan's food and flower garden. He deeply enjoys his job, especially the challenge of finding appropriate nooks, crags, and crannies to plant his vegetables and flowers; as well as buying and gathering the appropriate seeds of plants that can withstand the enormous gusts of the Twisting Crescendo. His mate Izumi helps him with this task, tending to delicate young seedlings and gathering water to give to the plants. His favorite flowers to grow are Juneflowers, which he uses to build flower necklaces for many different clan members during the Summer Solstice. o r i g i n s Symphony was born to a pair of much more fiery Imperials in The Shrieking Wilds. He found that his much milder temperament made it hard for him to fit in with his family, and he chose to instead learn the art of gardening from the clan gardener, Leland. Despite the ease and abundance of plants in the Shrieking Wilds, Symphony still yearned for the feel of wind on his leathery wings and a more challenging environment to grow plants. He eventually left his birth clan and traveled to the land of the Windsinger, which Leland had recommended (the older Imperial had grown up in a Wind clan). Symphony had seen Izumi flying some of the great gusts of the Twisting Crescendo and decided that he would join the clan she belonged too, and after their courtship he has been a loyal member of the Cloud Steppes Clan. p e r s o n a l i t y and a p p e a r a n c e Symphony is fairly mellow and laid back, although he does love a good challenge. Like many adult Imperials, he has grown to dislike the company of others of his species, with the exception being his mate Izumi and their children. He also has a vain streak, preferring the beauty of flowers and jewelry and adorning himself with both. He has dressed himself with brilliant blue flowers from his garden, as well as light blue lamps that help him see when he flies out to tend to his plants at night. His Talonclasp pendant was a gift from Jupiter, meant to celebrate the mating of him and Izumi, and Symphony enjoys the beauty of its gemstone so much that he rarely takes it off - even when he sleeps. He has also scrimped and saved from flower sales in order to purchase a gorgeous silk sash and leg silks, as well as a couple of other soft wool items and bows. m a t e Symphony's mate is Izumi, whom he had met while wandering the Twisting Crescendo, looking for a clan to join. Symphony, while smitten with Izumi immediately, was a bit hesitant to approach her - it was only after he noticed Izumi's interest in the clinging flowers and plants in the rocks of the Crescendo that he felt comfortable courting her. He impressed her with his knowledge of gardening, and the two became fast mates; Izumi had little interest in drawing their courtship out once their similar interests were discovered. Symphony deeply cares for Izumi and the two are strong partners, working on the small gardens dotting the rocky landscape around the Lair. p a r t n e r  Symphony's partner is a simple Leafy Moth that likes to hover around his Juneflowers. He had considered eating the little moth but Izumi's insistence on a strict vegetarian diet resulted in him befriending the moth instead. The first moth, which he named Horticulture, was not the last. The Leafy Moth has a short lifespan, so Symphony often finds their dead little bodies in his flowers, but he usually moves on and finds another moth as a gardening companion (making sure to give it the same name).
