Scatha

Scatha grew up in the harsh desolations of the Scarred Wasteland. Her closest kin were nomads endlessly wandering the Abiding Boneyard, sometimes mingling with other tribes they encountered, and then going their separate ways again. The Wildclaw from an early age had to learn on her own how to hunt and fight to survive, as she skirmished with everything from Shattered Serpent swarms to aggressive Mirror packs over the meager food she'd scrounged up. When she was scarcely grown her kin by chance happened upon the borders of the Plague realm, and Scatha decided to leave to seek a life of more than just living claw to mouth.

Her keen combat skills and brutality in battle lead to her being quickly hired for mercenary work. She was reckless and wild, and after rashly throwing herself into a brawl with the odds against her she found herself badly beaten. Furious, the Wildclaw fled the region and laid low before stories of her disgrace could grow, and began hunting for a way to make herself even stronger. Rumor reached her of projects conducted by Lightning dragons in the Carrion Canyon, that sought to meld machine and dragon. Scatha made the trek and volunteered herself as a subject, and was converted into the cyborg that she is today.

Scatha threw herself back into her old line of work and quickly began making waves, so that word of her abilities reached the ears of a gang known as the Hydra Scorpions. The gang's boss Basalt hired her one day as a bit of extra muscle. Impressed by her abilities, he convinced her to come on as a permanent member. In the gang's early days their base of operations was ensconced within the lair of the Diabase Demesne, but nowadays Scatha's “home” is in the Hydra Scorpions' own den on the outskirts of a neighboring territory. She rarely returns to her old Dragonhome haunt; Scatha is Basalt's hitwoman, the stick to other gang members' carrot, who roughs up or crosses off criminals who cross him- whether by working against him or targeting dragons who've paid the Scorpions' protection- when he commands it. The Steelhound is a name respected and feared in Dragonhome's criminal underground, and one a little too infamous for Scatha to be able to openly go to a lair as prominent as the Demesne anymore. Of course, as Pele's lair grows, its own size might make it easier for a few Scorpions like Scatha to slip in and out of its crowds unnoticed.

The other Hydra Scorpions are the only dragons who might be considered Scatha's friends. She is cold and ruthless, and holds most people at arm's length. Scatha rarely speaks, but when she does her voice is harsh and mechanical and her manner is blunt and direct, as she prefers to skip pleasantries or excuses and jump straight to the point. If she does have a soft spot, it's probably for her loyal familiar and others of its kind. Additionally, she is a decently skilled mechanic; talented enough at any rate to make repairs to herself and her familiar. She tends to hoard a lot of scrap metal and spare mechanical pieces for those occasions.
