Zeryll is a nurturing soul, and one of the reasons to why the lair is still standing. Along with his good friend Kirr he keeps others in check and reminds them that it's good to eat and sleep sometimes. Nowadays he has left most of the organizing to Kirr, but he still runs a part of the clan’s daily life with the help of his minions. Life in the clan is now certainly more organized than it used to be, but sometimes he still feels that there are too many scientists in this lair. Unlike Kirr who doesn’t mind the chaos, Zeryll does and will complain, and possibly stealth-plant a carnivorous plant in the troublemaker’s quarters.

Zeryll specializes in plant magic, and his plants decorate the lair and make it cosy and green. For all that he lectures others on the dangers of rogue science, he also experiments. Sometimes his new plants try to eat someone. Sometimes they are harmless. Mostly. It took weeks to get all of that one speed-growing vine out of the tunnels. He is very interested in Lionor’s herb-garden and has to be kept out of there by the guard-pardas. The two get along somewhat well which makes the rest of the clan sigh in relief.

Despite being social and wanting to take care of others, Zeryll is not always the nicest dragon to be around. He won't take any criticism and will throw a tantrum if someone attempts to tell him how to do something. Attempting to lecture him will only result in a sullen Pearlcatcher and more dangerous plants. Also, he carries a grudge forever and will pay for the slight later.

Merana and Zeryll seem to get along surprisingly well, considering that one is a self-centered near-hermit and the other social and vengeful. The pair of elders is well-liked by those who know them better, even if the newer additions to the clan tend to tiptoe around them for a long while.
