A notebook sprawls open on a dusty wooden desk, its contents open for all to see. The side etch these words: Victoria, the name of the owner. Along the pages recorded these following words, as well as three colored sketches of dragonets.

The three hatchlings I constructed last time weren't enough for the mysterious client Axl kept talking about. I was now again commissioned to create a continuation of the past three, similar dragonets, who will grow up to be pristine and perfect in every way possible.

I was going to agree. But I felt like something was shifting within the roots of the Court, as if the house does not welcome the arrival of new barghests. So to fulfill the new request and to avoid anything weird going on, I have to create these in an entirely new way; not out of ruby statues as my ruby bloodline will make it easy to create— but out of other methods other barghests have tried.

Valentines is sliding near and the February moon will be rising soon, so I have to be quick about it. Euthymius kept talking about how beautiful the flower buds are in the garden this year, and I went to check— sure they are, flowers tightly closed and ready to bloom. These ones are large, compared to other flora grown in other flights, and can even compete with the sizes of the monstrosities grown in the Viridian Labyrinth where Victoria had once visited; they are perfect enough… to hold a dragonet inside. The puzzle pieces clicked in my mind as I thought of a plan.

At night, I connected my thoughts with Bride and directed her body towards the garden. With tender claws we placed them onto the petals of the flower, and I channeled as much magic as I could into these precious things. It takes several tries, and I have to adjust the amount I pour in, but eventually one flower is done. I'll move on to the next tomorrow.

The February moon hangs high above us, dappling the court with gorgeous shadows laced with moonlight. I watched the moon through the eyes of Bride, entranced, and a shocking realization came to me: why aren't the flowers I enchanted blooming?

Or maybe the children wanted to be late?

Soft whispers and gestures of love and affection filled the air as Valentine's day arrived in a flurry of flowers and chocolate. I sat in the arboretum, entranced by the aura of the festival today. At a second glance around, I realized the petals that I have enchanted were slowly unfurling themselves.

I watched, amazed, as the flowers bloomed one by one. Some held nothing but pearls and jewels and rubies concentrated with nature magic, a failure to raise a dragonet but a magical miracle indeed; some bloomed with a small whisper escaping from the flower core, the tendrils of enchantment fading; but at the centre of it all, was the largest flower, unfurling itself with grace and delicacy as it opened to revealed twins, curled around each other like birds of a feather. Their eyes glimmered lightly, with nature magic, as if the flowers have bestowed the blessing of flora onto them, unlike the plague lands we reside at.

I picked them up gently. Pink as the color of love. Pink as the color of the most delicate blossoms, pink and pristine like what the customer has asked. They will be carriers of the barghest curse, not being born under a full moon; but they are perfect, in my eyes.

Pursuit is in the heart of every dragon who struggles to outrun their own curse. Barely escaping from the full moon, the twins are the epitome of love and pristine perfection, entertwined with each other, as a rose always will have its thorns at its side. But the ruby that holds them safe will shatter, someday, as the siblings get lost and separated.

Victoria's side remarks: It seems like these dragonets are born with nature barghest magic instead of the plague strain in which the Court resides at. Maybe enclosing them in petals to construct these beasts have led to nature magic.

Exalting Camelia to the service of the Arcanist will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
