Cragenmire Cavern Clan

Beneath the Earthshaker's realm, an expansive tunnel system runs across Sornieth. Though many groups have attempted to explore these tunnels, few explorers have returned alive, if at all. Nestled in the darkness, two eggs stir. As they crumble, two new dragons open their eyes to shadow and rock. Taking on the names Elisha and Panorus, they aim to make Cragenmire Cavern their home - and maybe one day a home to many others too.

The Cavern-born are dragons born within Cragenmire Cavern and raised there. Elisha and Panorus often scour for unhatched eggs to add to their ranks. Some dragons have flocked to the caves already, seeking out shelter or chasing the hopes of a better life. All are welcome within Cragenmire, however it's become somewhat of a superstition that the Cavern-born spawned from unhatched eggs cannot leave...

With the efforts to make more of the cavern safe for occupation, many dragons have flocked to check it out. Some come from troubled pasts, others seemingly running from something. Elisha met her mate Octanis when he travelled to investigate the magic latent in the ancient stones that litter the walls and floor within, some of the potent magic changing him from a tundra into a mirror. He was disgruntled about this at first, but secretly thanks this interesting turn of events, as his transformation caught Elisha's eye.

Most travelers who decide to have hatchlings while staying in Cragenmire Cavern end up leaving them behind, unwilling to tear the young ones from an environment they seem so comfortable in. Others, however, take more aggressive approaches. They may force their hatchlings to travel alongside them against their wishes, or perhaps even abandon them somewhere far from the caves in order to force them from the shadowy depths. It can't be disputed, though - hatchlings born within the tunnels are completely within their element there.

With such a constant wave of dragons arriving and leaving, some of the regular members have grown a bit weary. Though most of them still treat these travelers with respect, a few, such as Alister and Sepa, have taken to avoiding them altogether. Elisha and Panorus have been attempting to rectify this, however their efforts are limited. A strong advocator for the travelers is Romaine who, after taking one on as a mate for a short time, has come to understand these almost nomadic dragons and respect their passions. Aerona and Tethys, oddly enough, have also been very supportive of these wanderers - though that's perhaps due to having traveling parents themselves.

With further construction efforts, another entrance to Cragenmire Cavern was discovered. One of the larger tunnels leads to an opening in the Greatwyrm's Breach, and finally a landing space was constructed to make it a secondary entrance. It's popularity amongst the traveling dragons is making this entrance more and more used, thus pushing the residents to liven it up more. Firepits and lantern lights strung across tall wooden support beams that keep a stone roof upright now serve to welcome travelers and traders alike, with some dragons setting up shop to take advantage of this. The bulk of the cave's dwellers are still near the Highland Sanctum, however.

When the dwellers of Cragenmire Cavern caught wind of the Dustcarve Dig, many were eager to join in, rallying supplies and even attempting to actively participate in the dig, though they were turned away. They were glad to hear that their supplies pushed the team to complete the final stretch of the second tunnel. Tethys and Oceanus found themselves camping out by where the dig was taking place, acting as couriers for the supplies the Cavern-born and recruits wanted delivered. However, they were also quite keen to learn of what was discovered in the depths of the caves. Surely, it had to be something truly magical.

During the dig, the construction effort bolstered it's efforts until a new entrance was found right beside the Colonnades of Antiquity. Though the Greatwyrm's Breach entrance was still seeing the most traffic from travelers, many vendors set up shop at this new entrance, as there was a booming market and it put the clan closer to the heart of Dragonhome, where more travelers would pass through. Some began to take this exit in place of the other two, with the Highland Sanctum entrance becoming mostly used by the clan members as opposed to dragons constantly coming and going. The deeper tunnels became more habitable as well, with a combination of machines and careful architecture ensuring that air properly circulates, and bright lantern lights strung up to illuminate the winding paths. But, there was still more work to be done. There always was, wasn't there?

-

With the increase in usable space and more interaction with the rest of Sornieth, the tunnels were developed even further into a proper city. Construction knocked out walls between caves with careful precision, and with a few well-placed, dragon-made lava tubes through which the sky could be seen, the Cragenmire Cavern Clan began to live primarily in their new underground city. Most of the dragons couldn't decide on how the city should be built, so many districts with varying architecture were built in place of a coherent city.

The Cog District is the western side which has steampunk creations built in and harbors a large focus on machines.

The Lake District is the southern corner which borders a large underground lake and utilizes docks, even having a portion built on the lake as boat dens.

The Dark District is the northernmost region which dwells in the least developed area, known for being both the most dangerous due to all the nearby connecting tunnels and also the most in touch with the earth's natural magic.

The Sun District is the easternmost area which builds tall spires that leave the darkness of the cave and spread upwards to the sky.

The Hearth District is the heart of the city, which is known for it's somewhat rugged but warm aesthetic and focus on businesses such as metalworking.

Sidenotes -

Each District has it's own architectural style. The Cog District is steampunk and clockpunk inspired and features a lot of rough machinery, which brings aspiring inventors in. The Lake District is inspired by Venice except with boat houses and dock-like streets, with large canals to row and good fishing. The Dark District is more primitive and closer to how the Cragenmire Cavern dragons lived initially, with dens carved into the walls, but without the narrow, winding passageways, instead resembling a hive. The Sun District is solarpunk inspired with large stained-glass windows and tall spires with lots of plant life growing from them. The Hearth District is a bit of a mish-mash of the other districts, with a sort of warm back-alley aesthetic, and is primarily devoted to workshops with a fountain in the center.

I've noticed that you've been inactive here, or at least not feeding your dragons. Mind if I hold onto your Regina for a while? One of my other dragons has fallen for her.

Just a quick question for lore purposes... It says in Eon's bio that he was a magician's assistant, who was the magician?
