Clan Stratus is considered somewhat of an oddity to the nearby clans of the Frigid Floes, as it's leadership is passed on by a royal bloodline rather than strength or voting. Clan leaders of any gender are expected to only have one child and when they reach of age, are thrown into the tundra on their own for one year as a rite of passage.

The original creators of the clan were two faes long since left to serve their deity, the IceWarden. Since then the leadership has moved onto different dragons, however the fae roots of the clan still speak strongly in their large numbers and the clan's lair being made mostly of amber dens built within a glacier.

At a young age, all dragons are sorted into groups of their future occupations within the clan. Nesting ground attendants, glassworkers, hunters, guards, scribes, healers, all jobs have strict rules and requirements of those that choose them. Every dragon is expected to fulfill their duties and support the clan above all, even those that are accepted into the ranks from other clans.

The clan's main industry lies in glass making. Dragons trained in the art will use specially contained heat to melt sand before submerging the object into the icey water below to instantly cool it. The glass created by the clan's workers can resemble both art and weapons, depending on the current state of peace within it's ranks. However, there is also a small practice of jewelry making within the clan. Thanks to a long time ally providing materials, the clan has started to shift it's work to include metal as well as the traditional glass.
