http://flightrising.com/rendern/350/195/19418_350.png?1381486981
Spirit of the Flames: Tahlja Jayar
Clan Mottos:
Fire breeds chaos, and chaos breathes in fire
Ill tidings seize the flames
Fire from the heart. Ashes from the mind
Traditions:
--The Kazi Way--
When young dragons go on their first hunt for the clan.
--The Mogurr Time--
The naming ceremony in which young dragons from the clan are bestowed their true names of fire by the Tahlja, or known as the clans shaman who can communicate to Flamecaller. Until a dragon reaches maturity it is left unnamed until he or she comes of age unless its the first born (first gen) sons or daughters of the leader or another pairing amongst the clan.
--Kahlnakseki--
A ceremony in which an adopted dragon from outside the fire flight is initiated into the clan and given a name blessed by Flamecaller through the Tahlja.
--The Tumaak Day--
Held in the spring time, it is a custom to allow any mature males or females to try to take on the head leader in dominance if the clan doesn't believe he/she to be a good leader anymore.
Also the clan gets to vote on who can become the new Tahlja and get to switch roles amongst the clan if he/she wishes. Basically, take on different jobs. Clan members can also change mates if he/she wants. It is a great time of change amongst the Tal' Sen.
--Ascension--
When a dragon becomes summoned to join Flamecaller under servitude. Considered the highest honor, a grand feast is held and also a funeral like ceremony is procured mourning in the loss of a fellow clan member but also a celebration for their clanone reaching the highest rank.
--Brann Unto Tahlja--
In which the underling of the Tahlja takes the place of main Tahlja as spiritual adviser to the clan and also the communicator of Flamecaller.
--Caal DuSal--
The clan exchanges a hatchling for another hatchling from an allied clan. It is said to strengthen the bond and spread the lineage of the Tal'Sen and promote the growth of their allied flights.
Culture:
The Tal' Sen are harmonious dragons in tune with the element of fire. They are fierce warriors and soothing spirituals who look to Flamecaller for advice and a means of living. Despite some of the savagery flights tend to have on other flights, the Tal' Sen are very welcoming of dragons from different elements and clans typically focusing on the positive aspects rather than the negative. However they are initially cautious of others but once granted friendship they are loyal to fellow clans and flights alike, willing to exceed expectations to serve allies.
Their system of ruling consists of having a main Maakto (female equivalent Jaaka) or leader. Both males and females have equal rights to become the head of the Tal' Sen. The clan chooses the leader by a means of voting, and the winning dragon gets to be Maakto for the remainder of his/her life unless challenged during The Tumaak Day if the quality of leadership has been negative, if summoned by Flamecaller, or decides to retire.
A Maakto can choose an heir if he/she wishes and it doesn't have to be of blood. Despite having an heir, the chosen dragon by the Maakto still has to be voted in but the clan will expect much more responsibility of that said dragon and will carefully monitor his/her progress to see if they are worthy of being called leader one day.
Though the clan is ruled by a main leader, they still all get the chance to vote on serious matters. The Maakto can over rule a vote depending on the severity of the issue at hand especially if it concerns the safety of the clan. However, most disputes and issues are solved by the full clan being involved in voting and the Maakto must respect the wishes and needs of his/her fellow clanones. As stated the only time he/she can over rule anything is only in severe cases of danger and/or hostility and war.
The second most highest ranking is the job of the spiritual adviser or Spirit of the Flames blessed with the title of Tahlja. This shaman like dragon is tasked with communicating the wishes of Flamecaller to the Maakto and the rest of the family. Typically this dragon helps initiate the many rites of passage and traditions the Tal' Sen has. It is, to an extent, considered almost an even greater honor than being a Maakto or Jaaka.
A Tahlja can be male or female much like the main leader. Once a Tahlja has been chosen he or she must perform their duties for life. However, much like the Maakto, if the Tahja is considered unfit for the job he/she can be voted out. There have only been two instances of this happening to a Tahlja as most serve out their spiritual duties until either death or Ascension.
A Tahlja will always end up becoming exalted or summoned to Flamecaller at some point during their elderly years or when they have reached a full peak in spirituality. A Tahlja can select a spiritual successor or Brann based upon a sign given to them by Flamecaller. It can take many years until a sign is given for the underling the Tahlja must take under his/her wings. Unlike the Maakto or Jaaka heir, once the Brann has been chosen it is a done deal. The clan cannot over rule it.
The rest of the clan performs a variety of duties from hunting, cultivating, and hatchling rearing. The Tal' Sen are also into the arts, philosophy and history of the world and will to great lengths to achieve any means of education because it is thought it leads them one step closer to understanding Flamecaller's true wisdom. They are very gender neutral except for some choices of words such as the different namesakes of leader. Males and females can perform whatever duties he or she wishes, but can opt to have the Tahlja help guide them on the right path of the duty they should partake in within the eyes of Flamecaller.
Clanones depending on their status and their destinies, will come and go out of the Tal'Sen. Such is the will of Flamecaller and all the other Great Ones (Dragon Patrons and or Gods) who guard each of the flights. To strengthen the bond between other clans, the Tal'Sen may offer up hatchlings for trade or will form bonding pacts with sums of gold with other clans. It is considered an honor to receive a hatchling for another hatchling for it spreads the Tal'Sen's lineage. Also, sometimes the adult dragons will be given a vision or a sign from Flamecaller if it is time to leave and move onto greener pastures or a new clan entirely. The clan understands the importance of achieving ones own ambition and the pursuit of happiness. In honor of the hatchlings and/or clanones that decide to leave, the Tahlja and the Maakto keep a record of the clans lineages calling it the Daaktine or Great Family in the hopes that their time together will forever be preserved and the bloodlines shall continue from generation to generation.
It should be noted that the dragons one will see of the Tal' Sen are now remnants of the original clan which use to be ten times the size of this one. After a horrific and bloodshed night of misfortune, most of the dragons from the original Tal' Sen had been destroyed or separated from one another after a vicious scuffle with a flight became personal.
Maakto Drogo, one of the last hatchlings of the previous Jaaka before the fall of the Tal' Sen has made it his goal and dream to reunite the separated clanones and rebuild the Tal' Sen to its former glory.
