Nature's Bounty Hatchery
While following a wide stream, you encounter a clearing with a neat stone fence bounding it, broken only by an archway. The underbrush before it has been cleared away, providing welcoming entrance to what you can only assume is a dragon lair. Following custom, you lay your weapons down just outside the arch, and step inside, and wait.
Inside, there are concentric circles of flat stones of varying sizes and a fire pit. It appears to have seen a great deal of use, but is orderly, with fresh wood laid in the pit. Surrounding this central plaza are well-kept homes of various designs - quite too large for a human, but perfectly dragon-sized. The houses are carefully tucked into the forest itself, sometimes cleverly using the trees themselves as framing. There are pathways leading back into the forest and presumably to the low cliffs that for a natural boundary for this lair.
Hatchlings of various species tumble from one side of the plaza, see you, and run shrieking back the way they came. You don’t know whether to laugh, but a feeling of warmth comes over you, and a low rumbling comes from just ahead. You recognize it as a draconic chuckle.
The house directly across the plaza from the gate is painted in bright colors, and a middle-sized red Guardian emerges from the door, carrying several scrolls. She nods at you politely.
"Welcome, traveler," she says. “It is playtime for the hatchlings; forgive their rudeness.” She gestures toward the flat stones, which are really seats for a good number of dragons. "Make yourself comfortable. I am Suvi, and you have caught me in the midst of running errands. Once I have delivered these, I will return and we shall talk, yes?" After making sure you’re comfortably seated on a small rock, she looks up and calls to what you had assumed was a bird. “Micah? Would you bring our guest some fruit and a water skin?” Her gaze returns to you. “I will not be but a moment.” Then she hurries off in the direction of a much larger house to one side.
A pastel iridescent Fae flutters down, bearing a basket of fresh fruit and a dripping water skin in his delicate claws. You take these offerings, thanking him in a soft voice. Large violet eyes blink slowly, then he flits away again, chirping. Another Fae joins him, and they both disappear into one of the larger trees.
In short order, Suvi returns, and the two of you trade stories as the sun fades. Other dragons of the clan join you to listen, someone lights the fire, and you pass a pleasant evening learning of Suvi’s clan.
