LAIR

The Tradewinds dragons have claimed a series of craggy cliffs and weathered sea stacks on the edge of Windstar Bay as their home; not one lair, but a series of individual dens and tunnels spread out over several square miles.

The stone walls are carved into intricate designs and painted; the entryways are studded with foo's eye set in repeating patterns. Wind chimes made of every conceivable substance— bone and bamboo, jasper and copper— rattle in the unceasing winds off Windstar Bay. Delicate mobiles of seashell skycats and celestine perytons with feather wings bob and spin. Prayer flags, banners and colorful ribbons stream out from lair entryways and rock spires.

Large wind turbine fans stud the sides of the cliffs and whirl in silver blurs, the chop of their blades an unceasing deep, dull roar that melds with the sounds of the sea. The sweet melody of pipes can be heard over the surf and seabirds. Sweet scents of incenses and cooking meals fill the air.

As their clan name suggests, the dragons here make their living through crafting and trade. Craftsdragons focus on luxury goods, such as wines, fine furs and leathers, and blown glass, and the merchant class shuttles these wares across Sornieth, swapping and selling in other lands before returning home with treasure, gems, and other valuable items.

Any visitors who brave the fierce winds whistling through the Reedcleft Ascent are welcome here.

FACTIONS

The Windchimes
The Windchimes are the Tradewinds' spiritual heart — the religious order of devoted dragons who have dedicated their lives to serving the Windsinger and guiding the rest of the clan. They plan and perform all rituals and rites, from elemental festival celebrations to Pair Bonding to preparing the Exalted Ones for service. The Windchimes work to make sure the Clansong is in tune with the larger Sacred Hymn.

Council of Eleven
The Council of Eleven is the secular ruling organization which deals with the pragmatic aspects of the clan, such as lair expansions, trade deals, beastclan relations, and future planning. Seats on the Council are held by dragons of all statuses, trades, breeds, sexes and ages to ensure that all are represented.

Inter-Flight Diplomats
The Tradewinds Clan also hosts ten inter-Flight diplomats from non-Wind Flights. These diplomats grease the wheels of trade, teach the Wind dragons about the other Flights' cultures, ensure proper devotion to the other gods...and occasionally spy on their hosts.

The Slippery Serthis
There has been a recent uptick in Tradewinds dragons taking to the sea for adventure. The crew of The Slippery Serthis are willing to do just about anything for a price. From ferrying smaller dragons across wide stretches of open water, to hauling in seafood for the clan's stock, to cheerfully sinking competitors' ships, these dragons answer to no one. Their 'business' is not officially condoned by the Council, although they haven't taken any action to stop the pirates either.
