in the Hewn City, there is a grand cathedral. it is dark and empty, and its sharp spires score the sky. it is abandoned, and yet it is well known that something dwells deep in its heart.
from the upper ward of the cathedral, Vail watches with unblinking eyes. there is a blackness, a dimness that sprawls out from the cathedral's doors, and her gaze follows it hungrily. it will continue. it will grow. it is the will of the stars.
